Forums - Gaming - Thinking Of Swapping My PS4 Pre-Order For An XBox One

Buying consoles based on launch titles is short-sighted. But if that's how you make your purchases, then go for it. Buy an Xbox One if you prefer the hardware more if anything. I have a good feeling that down the line, the PS4 will be an irresistible purchase, for me anyways.

It is the better choice really. Playstation 4 is heavily overrated and won't get special exclusives at/after launch. Xbox One is getting lots of (unique) exclusives on launch and launchwindow. Ryse, Titanfall, Dead Rising, Halo, Fable, Killer Instinct, Forza 5, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark. I think these are really unique and better games. Get the Xbox One.

I'm not sure what you mean by PS4 not getting any special exclusives at or after launch. If you're a racing fan, Driveclub sounds pretty damn spectacular. If you like FPS titles, the new KZ multiplayer sounds pretty damn cool. After launch, you have Infamous SS which looks like it'll be leaps and bounds beyond the first 2, which themselves were amazing. You also have The Order, which we don't know much about, but just the setting and characters alone make it seem like the game is sure to be great, plus Ready at Dawn has a good track record. AND you still can't forget that Sony has yet to unveil SSM's new IP, Guerilla's new IP, Media Molecules new IP, and (most importantly!) Naughty Dog's new IP. PS4 will have the staying power. XBone's best titles will come out in the launch window (first year), before it slowly trickles down into them releasing only what sells the best. It's the same exact pattern M$ followed with their last 2 consoles.

For that XBone title list, all I can say is meh. The only 2 that really seem to stand out are Titanfall and Dead Rising 3, and those are most likely timed exclusives, especially Titanfall. The rest are either more cash-ins on old franchises, or just plain don't look good. Sunset Overdrive? That game looks like a really bad hipster joke... Project Spark? Seems more like Microsoft's way of selling their smartglass idea, rather than an actual game.

No! You can't do it! Another person going against the grain is the last thing we need. Our community is already enough out of whack. We can't have more people making decisions that don't compare to others.

bad choice.

PlayStation is about the long-haul, you are not just investing in it for its first few years, but its entire life-cycle which will be filled with impressive games.

plus, we get inFAMOUS which looks like the only true next-gen game i've saw (those particle effects...)

particle effects = next gen?

(facepalm)

He's right. With Sony its about legs and large amounts of IP's that sort through.

Simply put, don't fall victim. to 'Damage control' PR by Microsoft. Make your own choice, but mark my words it will be a foolish one.

1.) Games. I hear this all the time. "Xbox one has killer launch titles!!" We have no idea how the games will turn out, at all. The only thing we can judge by right now is track record. When you look at that track record the fact that with the Xbox 360 Microsoft hasn't released a AAA (90+ rated) exclusive full-fledged title for the Xbox not named Halo, Gears, Forza since 2006. Really take a step back and think about that before you talk about games and Microsoft. Specifically look at how well the console is supported through it's lifetime. Sony always supports their consoles, Microsoft has proven that they will only support their console if it's providing maximum profit to them.

2.) Hardware Longevity. How can't you be slightly concerned with a software company who has consistently had issues creating hardware that's either fundamentally viable or competitive with their peers. Original Xbox was a huge money pit because of their poor design choices. Xbox 360 had massive RROD failures due to their poor design choices. Xbox One, the book is unwritten yet again it appears they basically got less of a system than their competitor. I believe their inexperience in the hardware market is actively visible and has been. This hardware longevity is definitely a concern when the desire is to takeover your living room entirely.

3.) Price.

4.) Popularity. Early indications seem to indicate that the PS4 will have a far greater audience to start initially. Which means most likely a superior online experience.

Well do what you want lol. They are both great systems anyways.

hey, I won't tell you how to spend your money, do what you feel is right.

Am I the only one who doesnt like either companies launch line-ups?

That said, always do what you want to do regardless of what the Internet Toughguys try to tell you to do.

At this point you are setting yourself up to be disappointed twice... #1 it will be a PITA to ensure you have one on launch day even if you weren't just switching and two the XB1 IMHO just doesn't look that appealing.

Titanfall is THE only game that looks like it won't disappoint and that isn't a day one title, it's on PC (which is where I normally play FPSs anyways) and will undoubtedly make its way to PS4. The only reason it didn't in my estimation is MS was more willing and able to provide the developers with the dedicated server backbone they wanted for the game. Which was basically like paying cash for yet another timed exclusive.

Good choice, can I get your pre-order?
