It looks though Nintendo may be planning a new Wii U bundle to coincide with the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. There’s also rumours of new 3DS XL bundles for Pokemon X & Y.

Destructoid has word of the bundles. The Wii U bundle will contain the 32GB Deluxe version of the console, and of course a copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. This will set you back $349.99.

The Pokemon bundle will offer two choices of 3DS XL colour, red or blue. There’s no word on which colour will come packed with which version of the game. The bundles will retail at $199.99

There’s no release dates for the bundles yet, but it’s likely to be October as that’s when the games are out. Common sense, you know?

I would think that means Nintendo Land + Wind Waker HD bundled together.

$349.99 is still too much though, needs to get down to $299.99.

Maybe they have officially discontinued the Basic, dropping Deluxe to $299 and Deluxe+Wind Waker-$349

They might as well keep the $299.99 SKU, just make it a lot less gimped.

Well a price cut would be more ideal, but I don't think Nintendo can cut the price.

They need to pull a profit this fiscal year, because otherwise they'll have wasted one of the 3DS' prime earning years, and I think quite frankly, push come to shove, Nintendo chose the 3DS over the Wii U as their "go to" system to carry the company financially for the next few years.

And they paid a dear price to do so taking their first loss in the company's 100+ year history to rescue the 3DS.

The Wii U? They're just not willing to go there again for it. If it's a GameCube 2.0, I think Nintendo will swallow it as a bitter pill, learn their lesson, and move on. But they need to make a profit this fiscal year, otherwise I think Iwata knows the stockholders are really going to turn against him.

So with that in mind, if they can't cut the price outright, I'd suggest the above. They need every dollar of profit from the 3DS this year badly, they cannot have the Wii U cancelling out some of that profit by eating a bigger hardware loss on it.

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird messaging to bundle a 10year old GC game remastered in HD with your brand new console? But hey, it's still Zelda so...

The economics work. It probably cost Nintendo very little to up the resolution to 1080p and add in some bloom lighting.

Having to give away a game with a larger budget like Pikmin 3 stings Nintendo more. They want you paying the full $59.99 for that to recoup development costs.

Besides I'm pretty sure Nintendo Land is still the "main" game being bundled. Wind Waker HD is just like an extra bonus.
