... so... an expansion pack for a game that wasn't on the Wii U is not coming for the Wii U... or the PS4 or XBone as of now...

I'm sorry, this is news how?

The expansion pack is $15 for PS3/Xbox360/PC.

However it is also a separate game that will be coming out for PS3/Xbox360/PC for $40 - for those who dont want to get SSFIVA. So they could easily of ported over the game to the WiiU but chose not to.

----

Gamers who already own Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition can pick up the DLC expansion pack for $14.99. The title will also hit stores as a disc-based release, with a $39.99 price tag.

just because it will be sold in a disc doesn't mean anything. it's still an expansion to the same game so there's no porting to ps360, they just added the new data to a disk. and by using the same assets, it was probably a small team who did it. porting to wii u would probably require more people and let's not forget it doesn't make much sense to release a 3 year old game to a new system.

This just means it'll be mega exciting when the Wii U get Street Fighter V.

Ah, who am I kidding. That's never coming out!

that doesnt mean it could be easily ported, dont know how you took away an expansion pack from that. This is no different than game of the Year edtions that have come for several games over the years, with all the DLC. Even if they did release it on Wii U it would bomb, because 1 most people who want SF have got it already for PS360,PC or even 3ds, 2 40 is steep for a game that has been on the market for so long, should have been no more than 30. 3 its quite frankly better NOT to buy this version at all, You can get AE for 15 the DLC 15 save yourself 10 bucks

actually you would have to be a fool to buy this on disc

I know that, but it's not a typical practice to port every last gen games to a new generation system, even if they are a GOTY style game with additional content.

It gives people an option and should honestly be done more. There are some people who wont buy competitive systems for whatever reason - even if the userbase is small or if the demand isnt as much, there can be some profits to be made (i.e. Call of Duty coming out on all systems).

But its whatever! Getting this baby on Steam!

I agree but this is not a new game, it's an expansion to an existing one.

Street Fighter games sell well on Nintendo systems, not sure why they aren't releasing. SSFIV 3D actually outsold the 360 version of the game while being on a much smaller install base while the 360 version had the Arcade Edition DLC already available.

If you ignore the 1.66m sales of vanilla SFIV...

If you ignore that it was a late port, that the superior Arcade Edition was already available and that 3DS's install base was much, much smaller than the 360's...

Launch games have the benefit of selling high because nothing else to buy.   But even then SSFIV 3DS failed to sell through its first shipment of 1m for almost two years, the second shipment almost 2 years later was only 100k more.  ...and yeah, bargin bin prices for most of those sales which doesn't scream "release another!".

Arcade Edition was not released on consoles when SSFIV 3DS released, that is just false, that was not for several months after 3DS released, the 3DS game included the benefit of having all DLC included for free.

Not true, otherwise Steel Diver would've sold more than 200k. During it's first year SSFIV 3D sold more than the 360 version at the same time frame and surpassed it's total sales by its second year. It's not like the 360 version was being sold at full price for 3 years and only the 3DS version got lower prices as time passed...

About AE, I was quite sure it was released at a similar time frame as the 3DS version. My fault.

You're ignoring that 1.66m people already owned a copy of SFIV on 360.  For some people one is enough, even if miss extra characters.

That's the intention, since that game was released earlier. I'm comparing SSFIV against SSFIV, not SFIV.

Not surprising.
