Haha, oh yes I did!  And not being sexist or anything.  It's actually a bizzare scientific fact.  A very large percentage of women (vs a very small percentage of men) have very poor 3D visualization.  That's why there are almost no female Air Traffic Contollers - they can't pass the testing.  As a result many women get disoriented playing 3D games with rapid changing perspectives.  It's one reason so many women love Nintendo games and 2D Mario in particular.  Limiting the 3D Mario viewing perspective can greatly expand it's potential audience.

I honestly didn't know that, interesting....

In case you didn't know, I have a comic book called Guardians. I'm the writer/creator of it, and we have four issues out right now, with our fifth coming out soon!

We're also doing a Patreon right now for the comic, and I'd appreciate any and all help in getting it funded. If 56 people pledged $3 per issue, we'll be funded

To pledge, click here. Please join Team Guardians!

Sometimes when you try to please everyone you end up pissing off everyone lol. Case in point.

But forum go-ers aren't everyone!

No, I don't think multiplayer is the issue. Nintendo took this approach with 3DLand as well. It's really more of a focus of making a 3D Mario that is more "playable" and incorporates classic Mario elements. There's been many times when I was playing Mario Galaxy when I longed for the classic-style power ups (no life bar) and more traditionally styled worlds in a 3D Mario. 3DWorld gives this. There are also many people (especially women) that have a difficult time with 3D visualization when there is a roaming camera. A more locked camera perspective allows those people to play and enjoy a 3D game. I think the classic play and more accessible viewpoint are reasons why 3D Land has been a big success, and Nintendo wanted to continue this with 3Dworld while bringing in multiplayer, which is awesome.

I think the biggest problem with 3DWorld is in presentation. It's neither groundbreaking, nor does it have the "style" of Galaxy. The music is also nowhere close from what we have seen so far. Galaxy felt "fresh" while this game is more "classic". Contrary to what many say I think the visuals are better than Galaxy and the levels more detailed... they just don't have the cool space backgrounds and flipping camera angles.

I'm really looking forward to the game because it brings a lot of what I have wanted in a 3D Mario to life. I do wish the style or theme was a little more original though, and that the music and that orchestrated drama of Galaxy. The true game may have these things, but we haven't seen it yet.

The NBSM presentation aesthetic really is a blight on Nintendo, I think its seeped into the new Zelda game on the 3DS too.

If there's one good thing that comes from NSMBU underperforming it's that it might be a wake up call at Nintendo that presentation actually matters, even in a Mario game. It's probably too late to benefit 3D World though as that game was probably well into development already before NSMBU came out.

Agreed! According to forum goers, Gamecube was Nintendo's greatest console, DD the greatest MK game, WW the greatest Zelda game, and Sunshine was amazing. Meanwhile in the real world, Gamecube was their biggest home console flop, as well as each game mentioned being on the lower end of sales for respective franchises. : )

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Yeah, forum-goers are of the age now where those who grew up with the Gamecube are make up a large chunk, so the Gamecube gets a hugely disproportionate amount of worship.

Final answer: Not really.
