I wanted it lol I bought it day one! It was the last one I was excited for though.

And people on the internet sure want it but will it appeal to the casuals the way previous Pokémon games have?

I mean there's not an extremely popular anime this time around or trading cards to collect. That alone acted as indirect marketing for any new game coming out.

I'm not sure nowadays a kid younger than 12 years old knows what Pokémon is.

And so when he walks into the store will he really stop in front on Pokémon X/Y and want to buy it right away?

I'm just doubtful it's the same as 10 years ago.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl did better than Sapphire and Ruby, though. They came a few years later, as well.

I doubt X/Y will do less than Sapphire/Ruby, however 20+ Million is a really bold statement.

Why would it sell more than Pokémon Gold/Silver?

Because they're the far superior games, and as we all know, quality is what sells!

Please -.-

your underestimating x/y QUALITY >:(

*facepalm*

how is that a facepalm? ANswer me almighty COMG Creator!

Because no one has played X/Y duh!

How can you tell it's better than Gold/Silver?!

i said the quality can rival and maybe surpass gold/silver. They've done more than any other generations as far as i can tell. The game will play like other games, i dont need to exactly play them to get some info out of them, we just dont kno all the pokemon, almost nothing about the region, and post game. Other than that i see a HUGE improvement, any pokemon fan will tell you the same, wen B/W came i already new it be new pokemon/added moves/new region/etc. So it be just like the games before it, this time around gamefreak went all out. Its like comparing SSB with SSBM!

It's like saying New Super Mario Bros. is everything that was Super Mario Bros. and more so it's a better game! There's more to it than that.

It is expected of a new game to have new features. New pokémons, new moves, new regions, new mini-games and all that are not new features.

Walking in diagonal is not a new feature. Mega form is not a new feature.

None of that changes what Pokémon has been for the past 15 years.

Gold/Silver got a pass because it was the first sequel to Blue/Red and it still felt fresh but the series hasn't changed much since then and many have grown wary of it (myself included). I honestly was the biggest Pokémon fan back then and so I didn't give up easily.

So I don't see how, for its respective time, X/Y can be better than Gold/Silver if all it does is add new content without drastically changing the core mechanics of what's been relatively the same for a long time.

1. Mega Form is a new feature, it will forever change the game. Saying it isnt and you clearly do not kno pokemon

2. walking Diaganol? like i was going to count something as small as that lmao

3. A game doesnt need to sell more to be better (SSBM>SSBB for example in terms of gameplay)

4. I said 20mil will be a great goal, i dont expect to sell over 23mil but hopefully a good 19-21mil woulde be fantastic

5.There are tons of extra features that is new to the game, but i dont think you'll understand unless you kno about IV/EV training/etc

6. X/Y have sexy box arts

7. Im tbone and your just boutros :P

8. This is more hyped than the previous 3 gens (Gen 3-5), you be surprised if it does 15mil? I'll be disapointed if it does less than 14mil lifetime! Japan will break records with this game believe it :)

1. Mega form really only is the equivalent of a new pokemon, no?

2. There was a whole thread on Neogaf dedicated to diagonal walking in Pokémon X/Y. I mentionned it as a joke lol

3. Of course it doesn't.

4. 15 million for me.

5. What I want is a full change in gameplay. That would bring me back into the series.

6. Agreed.

7. Invalid argument. And false at that!

8. I've grown careful with internet hype.

Umm, what!? Different or w/e doesn't equal quality. If X/Y were literally just Black/White with better graphics, then it'd still be the better game (though not by much of anything), just like 10 is a greater number than 5, even though they're still just numbers.

Not the way I see things. I take into consideration the impact a game had when it came out. So better graphics don't make a better game.

Let's bookmark this thread and come back in a few years!

By the way, where's your prediction thread tbone? I couldn't find it.

surprisingly i predicted in the first week thread and im not even in the top half, anyway i have to make a lifetime thread soon, maybe in a week or two so we can see if x/y declines or notthe franchise. I'll post my answer wen the thread comes but for right now, i see a minumum of 17.5mil and a maximum of 21mil, but to be fair and give 1 answer I'll go with 19.5mil :)... You? 15mil or is it less? just dont be like ********* as he predicted less than 6.5mil, im not even lying. he thinks bw2 is a mainline game.

one last thing, your other post said you get back into the game. Wat do you mean? if it changes gameplay it wont be pokemon anymore :0,

You are right. If there is a full change in gameplay it wouldn't be Pokémon.

Yeah I didn't mean full change just maybe bring more action in the combat system. I love turn-based but sometimes change is good.

Look at Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It's not the traditional gameplay of other Paper Mario games. It tried something else and something new and I liked that.

I meant the thread you made a while ago will all sorts of predictions. There was one about Pikmin 3 reaching 1 million by year end.

Sounds like another case of nostalgia blind! Being first at something doesn't make you the best at it. 10 may come after 5 but 10 is still the greater number.
