Forums - Microsoft - Ryse: Son of Rome is the “Best Thing” Microsoft’s Phil Spencer Has Ever Seen on Xbox One

I certainly didn't get the impression that this game was that great from the E3 demo's. Maybe they just showed a really bad part of the game at E3?

I think Rol just won.

A lot of gamers hated Ryse and yet that's the best thing they have? Forza looks way better.

You just made that up didn't you?

No, it was back when everyone thought the whole game was QTEs.  At least that's how it seemed to be, everyone was hating on it for QTEs.

I think the game looks awesome, but Forza still looks way better.

I'm going off of Neogaf.

The majoirty over there are raging fanboys and not gamers.

Raging fanboys are everywhere, even around these parts. That doesn't mean they're not gamers.

That being said, I don't put much stock into what someone says to promote their own team's lineup. Like when Yoshida was talking up Media Molecule's project. Please. I like him but that doesn't mean much coming from someone who has a financial interest in it. I am far more looking forward to Dead Rising 3, the next Halo, and Titanfall.

He's not off his rocker. Crytek has responded to the fan comments that the gameplay of Ryse looked like one big quicktime.

fixed.

Take this one for example:

Why do fanboys have to hate the game? Does that mean your're a fanboy for liking the game? The combat didn't look that great, and they didn't do it any justice at E3.

Liees! titanfall it is

I hope what he means by "best thing" i has loot deep cuztomization and story choices.

Yep, I am thinking Titan Fall is the game too and its most likely not going to stay exclusive. I have a feeling if its successful MS is going to pay to keep it away from the Wii U and PS4 for good like they did with Gears.

Yosh is a gamer... he even played all consoles (even competition).

OP. Crytek said they will change the gameplay and the game won't be a QTEs fest where the buttons didn't trigger anything action (the actions are already defined even you misso all QTEs in  the demo)... so maybe Phil Spencer played a new version of the demo.

BTW it is Phil Spencer guys.

I thought Ryse looked amazing. Love the cinematics and beautiful graphics. Not a big fan of hack n slash but im going to be getting it primarily for the cinimatics (Which inlcudes QTE).

Something people seem to be missing is that Ryse has a chance of going mainstream because not only is it fantastic when it comes to cinematic but it also looks like it will be easy for anyone ot pick up and play.

Why would anyone take an opinion from people who never played the game as an indication of quality.  There are enough hands on out there that says the game plays better than what people are expecting.  If this is the case then Ryse will be one of those games you have to experience to form an opinion instead of watching some E3 footage that was made to demo the game.  A lot of times demos do not give the complete picture so any rational person can easily wait unti the game release and then judge it on its completed merits.

The hands on are in most cases not exciting... in fact I just remember one guy from Kotaku to say the game plays better for him than the other Kotaku guys said in the first article.

Actually thats slightly wrong.  Crytek did not say they were going to change anything about the gameplay, they just stated that the Button prompts are not QTEs but executions.  Meaning that the character will die anyway but you have the ability to perform a more visual execution of the character or characters.  This is more on the line like Batman executions.  Also Crytek says that you can actually play without the button prompts and just go on animation to give the game a level of skill and natural play.
