Well, I made a thread like this and the most popular opinion was PS4 + WiiU, so let's go with that XD
PS3 and 3DS are the best supported console and portables so I'd say those two.
For me, I can't go a gen without SOME Nintendo love so, right now, 3DS XL and PS3.

With this combo I get to play all the great Nintendo franchises and excellent support from Japanese developers on 3DS while on PS3 I get the great Sony exclusives and all the 3rd party multiplats. |
Outside of PC those are probably the 2 platforms I play on the most too.

But you can't play Xenoblade Chronicles with that combination.
I still think Wii U and 3DS is the best combination, right now purely because of access to last generation software (that's 4 generations of games, not counting VC output) but both consoles have nearly no overlap in games and both have or will get a decent amount of truly exclusive games. Since PC is not a console and I assume that in this thread it is allowed to have a PC additionally to the two consoles of choice I have access to pretty much 75% of the PS360 and PSONE content through PC and access to all 3DS, DS, Wii and Wii U exclusive content.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
