Forums - Nintendo - 2nd Generation for Wii U Engine, being unveil this year

Shin’en has a couple of Wii U games in development, and both of those games take advantage of the Wii U’s eDRAM and special graphics capabilities. Shokio from GaminRealm reached out to Shin’en to discuss the matter through a series of tweets.

@Shokio_YT Well, we would love to show first images along with the announcements. So as soon our 2nd gen Wii U engine is ready

@ShinenGames @Shokio_YT What kind of improvements are you making with your 2nd gen Wii U engine? Can’t wait to see it in action!

@MaxWill37699872 We’ve gone deferred+HDR. Very simple and fast on WiiU because all renderTargets fit in EDRAM.

@MaxWill37699872 NAN used forward rendering because we were afraid deferred would be too slow for 60fps. Fortunately it works great on Wii U
Looks like Shin’en next Wii U game might have the best graphics on the system outside of Monolith Soft’s X.

Hopefully they show what the Wii U is capable of, because even with the nice looking recent games like Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101, I don't think/hope we are not seeing anywhere near the system's capabilities.

This is probably not true at all, but i thought they were testing the waters for an F-zero game with Nintendo.

Sounds great coming from Shinen, refining their engines so that they can take advantage of more power of Wii U, that's what every developer should do. Too bad many won't do it to this extent.

I think X shows off the Wii U's capabilities pretty nicely. No offense to Shinen, but they ain't touching that.

i wasnt impressed at all by Nano assault tbh
im actually a big fan of the TEV unit present on Wii/GC...just look at Mario galaxy!!!

Cool. Wii U graphics will go far.

Moar power to WiiU.

Nintendo should buy Shin'en and focus them on creating tools for developers of their consoles. Because third parties are just so lazy and stupid, they can't do it themselves.

I seen awhile back they pretty much have ditched the F Zero series and none are on the front waters at the time being :(
