So lets say Vita gets exactly what the consumers want by holiday 2013. 3DS is ahead currently by over 26million, but without counting previous sales,can Vita compete with 3DS 2014/2015/ETC? If so how close will sales be? Will Vita beat 3DS in sales within a specific year? Or will it lose but be close?

If it had everything going for it, of course it would outsell the 3DS...because it has everything going for it.

But we're talking exclusive Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, (good) Call of Duty games here.

With your scenario, outselling the 3DS would be unlikely, but selling about 2/3rds would be possible, especially if the 3DS goes through a drought next year.

The fact is, nobody realizes the memory card is a cost. They go there ready to buy the console and then buy a card once they figure out what they can do with it. This doesn't affect casuals' purchases at all. And if you want to argue that it's keeping away the hardcorez, all you have to do is look at memory card prices on ebay, or whenever there is a memory card sale. There is never an increase in sales. You can get an 8gb for 20 on ebay. 10$ discount, anytime.

It's all about the games. It needs killer apps, and it doesn't have them. Period.

No, I don't think anyone expects that, including Sony. Their principle console is the home version, so they will never support their handhelds the way Nintendo does. If they put their top studios on Vita projects, I think we'd see some amazing things, but that will never happen. It's just not their primary focus.

Of course, never say never. No one ever thought they'd see the PSP explode the way it did with Monster Hunter. We might see the next big thing in Japan on the Vita in a few years, who knows.
