Forums - Gaming - The top 10 bestselling PS3 games really shows how FPS is the strongest genre on the platform. Six of the top 10 titles are an FPS. However...

This generation more than ever it has been the FPS generation. I hope that JRPGs rebuild themselves next gen and come storming back.

Hmm, pie.

Ironically I love FPS but own very few on consoles. I only console FPS games that are built with consoles in mind like Halo and COD. I buy BF, Dishonored, Bioshock, Far Cry, Crysis, and the rest for PC.

As more Years go by, it gets more stupid to do the whole "so many games in the Top 10 are FPS!" argument.

When the biggest game on the planet releases Yearly, then that said series will dominate sales lists. 5 out of those 6 games on PS3 are Call of Duty games. 5 out of the 8 on 360 are Call of Duty games.

Instead of simply doing the Top 10, it should be the Top 10 franchises.

Indubitably.

Buying yearly updates at full price is just disgusting.

Not as disgusting as worrying about how people spend their money.

People wouldn't buy annual releases if they didn't enjoy them.

quite sad how COD is half that list. People need to diversify what they play a bit. Also, who thinks GTA V will beat GTA IV?

You appear to be clueless about how economy works.

If people spend these money to help feeding starving nations in Africa rather than updating a bloody video game yearly, they could save the lives of thousands. And then ironically, its MY approach that is disgusting. Not surprising given you're a typical first world gamer who is either ignorant or doesnt give a damn about what's going on a few miles away.

Cheers.

Unfortuantely most people don't care about the fact thousands starve in Africa, they only care about what happens in their backyard. It's sad really because between most of Western Europe anyway, it is our fault that Africa is so poor and impoverished today. We grew at their expense and because of that alot of people in the west are in their own world most of the time. Most of the time, you need a singers face on a charity event to even get any money for aid. It would help if most of Africa's leaders weren't corrupt families who use anything to keep themselves in power. Just look at Idi Amin, he turned one of the more successful African economies (Uganda) into a complete mess in less than a decade because of corruption and his obsession with power.

Also, i think i've learnt with COD anyway, that yearly franchise gets worse everytime.

that is a big jump from 7 to 6 but i believe fifa 13 is undertracked by a huge margin.

Pretty much, outside of the Call of Duty dominance in the Top 5 of each list, things arent too focused on FPS. Without the CoD explosion, the lists have far more variety.

Absolutely.  This has been a very diverse generation.  People over-state the "FPS dominance" thing greatly, usually because they just want to attack something they don't like.  CoD has been the over-bearing force this generation, not the FPS genre in general.  Treat CoD as an anomaly and the FPS genre is just fine.  People need to stop harping on it and just play what they want to play.

Besides, CoD is very like a Just Dance, in that many players are casual gamers who rarely venture very far beyond one or two popular titles.

Oh god, what a ridiculous argument.

Its not our fault people around the world make kids they can't feed. That's something those people need to get under control.

You should live in a shed and sell off anything you enjoy. Think of how many lives you could save if you gave all your money to starving people in Africa.

I seriously doubt anyone didn't donate money to Africa because they spent money on a new video game. Could you seriously imagine this conversation happening?:

"Dude, are you going to donate $60 to the starving kids in Africa?"

"Oh of course bro! Where do I sign up"

"Here, I'll show you -"

"Oh wait. Damn, I forgot. I'm buying the next Call of Duty. Sorry Africa"

Simply put, the people who donate or don't donate to charity do so because of reasons other than video games.
