i find it hard to believe that people really believed nintendo "saved" gaming lol...

do people really believe that had nintendo not entered the market that no other company ( not necessarily sony or microsoft ) would have done so eventually?

personally i honestly feel that this is just something nintendo fans say to feel good about their favourite company but really? lol

Dude, go back and play some Nes or Super Nes games and then get back to me!  Games that even kids can play?  My little girl can beat most of the "hardcore" games I own on PS3 and 360!  Meanwhile, I doubt many of the "hardcore" gamers of today have what it takes to finish those "kids games" of yesteryear.  Anybody can play any game but back then, games required some serious skills and reflexes.  Things really got easier with the change to 3D.

personally i think most of the challenge with games today is contained in the multiplayer portions of games...

i'm quite sure that your little girl couldn't pick up something like lets say battlefield and instantly have a positive kill/death ratio

Oh dear, the riot van has arrived to disperse the crowd.

Unfortunately, the driver accidentally used the tear gas on himself.

You're right, Sony thought gaming was a joke until Nintendo pissed them off. Microsoft was involved from the sidelines on publishing for PC games, OS and simulators but when Sony got too powerful they joined to break down Sony. Truthfully Nintendo is the one, but I don't believe they "saved" gaming, they just made console gaming enjoyable and relevant.

Nintendo. they are the reason console and handheld gaming exists the way it does today. if it wast for them i doubt gaming would be such a mainstream, high budget industry

We play Call of Duty Black Ops II on the Wii U and she's often one of the best scorers on our team....but she usually dies a lot, too.

Nintendo because they pretty much saved console gaming after the crash of 1983. All sony did was bring it to mass market eventually, while Microsoft helped popularise online gaming on consoles. Nothing compares to what Nintendo did.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Without a doubt I believe Sega and Nintendo have been the biggest innovators in gaming. Sega failed ALOT but tried to take some really bold steps with add-ons, the Saturn and Dreamcast and Nintendo created some of the strongest genre characters we have ever seen. Even though Sega ultimately failed in the hardware business, it is largely thanks to them we enjoy internet on or consoles, the design that is the XBox xontroller, and unique franchises like Jetset radio, Monkeyball, Phantasy star and of course the legend that is Sonic :).

Screw the big 3, SEGA do what Nintendont

Nintendo didn't fix things by simply entering the market. It was the third party licensing rules that they enforced, after those companies drove the industry off a cliff by flooding the market with massive amounts of broken products, that did it.

Who knows if anyone else could have done that, but none of the other post-crash console manufacturers have ever been anywhere close to being that firm with third parties.
