Forums - Sports - The NFL Thread 2013: Seattle Seahawks win Super Bowl XLVIII

Preseason voting: Who will win the Super Bowl?

Ravens 28 6.14%

Patriots 53 11.62%

Broncos 141 30.92%

Texans 9 1.97%

Other (AFC) 19 4.17%

49ers 32 7.02%

Falcons 5 1.10%

Packers 17 3.73%

Seahawks 101 22.15%

Other (NFC) 47 10.31%

Total:452

Sure anything can happen but looking at their remaining schedule I will be suprised if the Giants win more then two games they probably have to get lucky to just win one game if they play like they did so far in their remaining games.

You won't find me saying Romo isn't a choker, but when the offense puts up 48 (against a pretty good defense) and the team still loses, maybe it's time to look elsewhere for a scapegoat? Not sure what the difficulty here is, seems straightforward.

If you won't, then I will.

Romo isn't a choker.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4696976/do-stats-lie-no-qb-better-than-tony-romo-in-fourth-quarter

Fact: Romo has the highest fourth-quarter passer rating among active quarterbacks. And it’s not even close. His 102.1 rating is more than five points higher than the second man on the list, Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers.

In the fourth quarter, however, Romo's passer rating actually soars to 102.9. Since 2008, the year after "The Drop," Romo has thrown an astounding 30 touchdowns to only eight interceptions in the fourth quarter. And despite the fourth quarter Revis interception to which Wyche's quote refers, Romo finished the 2011 season with 10 touchdowns and two picks in the final 15 minutes of games. What a choke artist.

If you’re into more advanced metrics, consider this: In four of the last five seasons, Romo has an above-average DVOA (Football Outsiders’ opponent-adjusted per-play efficiency metric) in late and close situations (any play in the second half or overtime when the score is within eight points). The 2010 season is the only exception, and in the other four seasons, Romo’s DVOA is actually higher in those situations than overall. And if you choose to argue that Romo melts under the brightest spotlights, consider that he has one of the best Quarterback DVOA rankings in nationally televised games since 2008.

Over the past two seasons, only Eli Manning has led more fourth quarter comeback wins than Romo. There’s a little bit of a selection bias at work because some quarterbacks, such as Brady and Rodgers, don’t lead a lot of comeback victories since their teams aren’t losing that often. But it’s still interesting that Romo has beat out many of his more comparable peers.

I'm not even a Cowboy fan. I just think the amount of hate they get is ridiculous.

Another average week for myself, depending on how the Falcons do I'll end up 8-8 or 9-6.

Nice stats but they don't prove anything the 1-3 playoff record speaks for itself the fact is Tony Romo is and always will be a choker.

They been dubbed America's Team even though if you go by history and championship pedigree that title should go to the Green Bay Packers (they won six championships before the Cowboys where even in existence) and have more then twice as many championships 13 versus 5.  All the hate is well devesereved since they have been major chokers for almost twenty years.

jus went i though my G-men were back; they forget to play the 4th quarter.....oh Eli you're so generous...-_-

They are the most liked team in America though.  Everything mainstream gets hate sooner or later.

I like how you dismiss relevant, in depth stats and replace them with an irrelevant team record in playoff games lol

This is the type of hate the guy is talking about. It's just silly.

Well I love to hate the Cowboys period so to me its all good.   I know that as long as Romo is the qb for the Cowboys they will continue to suck which again is good to me.  Also that 1-3 record is not irrelevant since quaterbacks get judged for how they perform during the playoffs.  Peyton Manning gets plenty of hate for only having won one Superbowl even though by the time he will be done he pretty much will own all the records and no one besides Tom Brady will come even close to his numbers in our lifetime.
