I feel much the same way. I think both bundles could have been composed better, but the Basic Bundle in particular always baffled me. If the 20% figure is true, I wouldn't be surprised.

Good. The Basic set was a failure the moment they thought it up. Adding Black and White choices to the Deluxe set and making different bundles (NintendoLand, Wind Waker, SM3DW) will be a winning set up.

For now, at least.

Im not sure how much truth there is to that figure, I just read it somewhere a while back. I think it would be wise to axe the Basic and drop the Deluxe to $299, maybe introduce some better value bundles at $349. Something like 32gb w/Pikmin 3+Wiimote-$349.

I think Nintendo kind of knows that the Basic is pretty much crap and is going to drop it and cut the price of the Deluxe by $50. I don't see a price cut till November or so however.

Yes. The Basic is an awful deal. Given the choice, I don't see why anyone would pick it over the deluxe.

The Basic is the system you buy if you don't want Nintendo Land and *already have* an unused external HDD. Most people do not fall into both categories.

Even if I did fall into both categorys, I'd want to make use of the external HDD by taking advantage of the 10% back on digital purchases deal, which only applies to the deluxe. Man I wish they did that for the 3DS! With just 3 more inevitable game purchases, I could have gotten a free full priced game!
