Xbox One consoles may come bundled with a headset at some point down the line, following confirmation from a Microsoft exec that the possibility is being looked into.

UPDATE: I know Microsoft has pussyfooted around this one before, but here’s Penello solidly confirming that Xbox One users will be able to get their third-party head-sets working using an adapter:

ORIGINAL STORY: It follows a lot of illy buggers around whether or not the console would come with a packaged headset as standard. We now know that it won’t and the company’s rationale is that Kinect can be used as a microphone.

On Twitter, one gamer asked Microsoft’s product planning manager Albert Penello if the console would be offered with a headset, to which he replied:

It seems like a sensible move, especially as Sony are copying their approach from the 360, I can't imagine the 360 style headset costs any more than a few $, but they have probably already started packaging the consoles without them

They look pretty well built actually, not sure they would cost just a few dollars.

If you are making millions? I must admit, I haven't really looked at the Xbox One headset, but the 360 one definitely seems very cheap and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, I really don't see why they couldn't have thrown in a slightly modified version of that, or just kept the port the same

I really hope they include a mic with the console. I refuse to use Kinect as a mic.

I don't know either tbh, but it looks far better than the PS4's, the sound quality is suppose to be clearer than that of a landline telephone.

I know the PS4 one looks quite poor, but my point is that the current 360 one performs just fine, why not keep it?

Didn't they already announce the headset is 25$?

Itll come sooner or later. MS seems to be listening to gamers more then ever.

One thing is foresure, this $25 headset is way better built then the $2 earbuds the other guys are getting :P

The 2$ earbuds come with the purchase of a console. :p
