Makes sense. Probably on day one when making your xbone account you'll have the option to import your 360 friends automatically to the new list. The title is misleading if this is the case.

The cross-platform Party Chat is limited by the codec used for audio. The codec for the Xbox One utilizes a greater amount of bandwidth for better audio fidelity than the Xbox 360 is capable of providing. They would have to, on the fly, down-convert the audio sent from an Xbox One to the Xbox 360.
It probably isn't impossible to do, but I'm guessing right now they're more interested in getting Xbox One features ready rather than complete cross capatibility.

I'm guessing it automatically imports your current friends but once imported, If you add friends to your Xbox One friends list, you won't see those additions to the Xbox 360 list.

They should promote the ease of transfer of Xbox Live. What they created was the perfect way to start, but this isnt the right way to continue. In this day and age one would think switching to a new console with some things ensured will keep up your standing and loyalty to a specific brand. Microsoft built Xbox Live off of its ease of communication inside and out of a game coupled with achievements.

"Your Xbox One friend's list will be your Xbox One friend's list. Your Xbox 360 friend list is your Xbox 360 friend list." Sounds pretty clear, cut, and dry. |
Only mean that the two list will act independantly of each other not that you will not be able to import your friends or that they won't carry over on the first login.
I think they should let them carry over... one of the things about Xbox Live is the amount of investment people have put in the system... over 10 years! A lot of people may actually get mad and switch to PS+ as a result. They probably are anyway.
That's unfortunate, though it doesn't affect me too much since I don't have many XBL friends...
Or other friends...
NOBODY LOVES ME (lol jk)

| CGI-Quality said: Perhaps I'm misunderstanding. It could mean that your 360 list will remain as is, but your Xbox One list will be your 360 list plus anybody you add on One. However, those you add on One won't go backwards and appear on your 360 list. |
even that sounds stupid.. i mean i can understand abt the feature and stuff but what abt just chat.. Maybe it has something to do with skype which MS cant integrate onto 360.. but for now it seems like app released on android 2.3 wont be compatible with Jelly bean.
This entire thing was clearly revealed last month.
Your entire profile with friends list will move over to the Xbox One. Once this happens the friends list then becomes split.

I'm thinking it will be closer to your later post. Or it could be that they are saying on Xbox One you will see all 360 and Xbox One friends while on 360 you will only see the 360 friends.
I'm guessing on 360 you will see all your current friends and the ones that have upgraded, but you won't be able to add any accounts that were created new on Xbox One. And on Xbox One perhaps your old friends will import over, but you will only be able to add Xbox One friends from that point on.
