Forums - Nintendo - Major UK retailer suspends WiiU stock

Isn't Asda like the UK Wal-Mart?

I think they're actually owned by Wal-Mart.

They are owned by Wal-Mart, but there nothing of the size of Wal-Mart. They have around an 18% marketshare of the supermarkets, which does make them a distant second.

I don't understand stopping the 3DS. It seems that there's an issue between them and Nintendo.

Not at all surprising. We knew retailers were giving up on the Wii U here given the permanent price cut on top of the many clearance sales. It will take a lot to get retailers to promote the Wii U again after the amount they will have lost.

so they have dropped Vita, 3DS and WiiU?

I think 3DS is still sold in stores, just not online, but I could be wrong on that.

CVG understands that the company did not stock Nintendo's latest release, Pikmin 3, a widely acclaimed title which entered at number two on the UK all formats charts.

did anything else release this week or does that imply that TLoU retains the top spot?

If they are grocers, then their console presence is minimal and they are just gettting rid of it altogether.

There is nothing dramatic here lol. This hardly has any impact at all.

Second largest gorcery chain in the UK

550 stores

Owned by Wal Mart

They are food sellers. The article says they dont even stock pikmin 3. I guess its different in the US, but here in europe grocers usually carry only the bare minimum in console materials and they hardly sell anything at all. They are usually stashed in a little corner. This is only drama from the press. It will have little impact.

How odd that they stopped selling 3DS online, same with Amazon.

But this is pretty bad. I wonder if they're still stocking Vita.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I'd recommend putting in the 3DS bit as well.

It's surprising, and a small blow. Nothing on the level of the Amazon boycott, though.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
