No, it's biggest games are still ahead of it. This Christmas into 2014 should hopefully turn around the Wii U's fortune abit.

Isn't a failure something that is, in fact, failing?

No, a failure is something that failed, period.

If you came about after the first month of the U and saw that sales were horrible, would you say it was a failure? You might say it is failing but you wouldn't call it a failure. After 8 months, no poignant game release and a high pricepoint, it's just as silly now as it was after the first month.

Failure: is the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success.

The Wii U is a failure for now. It doesn't mean that it'll always be a failure, but for now it is a failure.

You can only say that the first half year for the WiiU were a failure. It didn't meet expectations, so that fits the definition as you posted. It is however still impossible to know the WiiU will meet it's lifetime expectations. For now, it's failing, but you can't put the definition of failure on the WiiU yet.

I completely agree. It's waaaay too early to say that the Wii U will never be successful. I'm just saying that for now it is a failure. Calling it a failure doesn't mean that it'll always be a failure it just means that it currently is.

A 'failure' implies that it is, so to say, a done deal. It a final state, there's no coming back and it will be recorded in history as... well, having failed.

It sounds a lot like you're pullng these definitions out of thin air. Your argument is qualified by distinctions that don't exist, or at least aren't broadly recognized.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

no, its not a failure at all in my humble opinion. has the wiiu given me games that i love to play, yes. has it made me wana invest in the long-term due to the gamepad, yes. nintendo has given me a lot of reasons too wana invest in the wiiu now and in the long-term. i think ppl anymore wana just condemn a system if it doesnt take off like the previous system did or just dont like the company who makes it.

I'm not though. And they do.

Again, the first 8 months are a failure, but to call the U a failure is simply moronic or at least sounds moronic, because the U has only been out for 8 months and none of its competitors have released yet, so to call it a failure is just entirely idiotic to say the least, because it connotes that it is an all-around failure.

As an example, the Jaguar is a failure, but the 3DS is not. The U is following a similar pattern to the 3DS, so it's likely not a failure, just rather struggling atm.

The choice of words to convey a meaning is VERY important on a forum, imho.

Yes since the wii u is currently a failure. Thats not say it can't be turned around or anything though. At this point in time it is.

So how can it rebound if it is a failure in concept, riddle me that.

I never said that it was a failure in concept.
