Forums - Sony - The Last of Us multiplayer is remarkably fun.

You aren't imagining it, it happens very often. But I think that's a good thing. The game is designed well enough that rushers and campers can both do well but at the same time they don't have a huge advantage over the other. It's like Gears or SOCOM, gotta play slower and a little more aware of your surroundings.

and the mechanics in general promote hiding in a corner and camping like a bitch which i generally hate in multiplayer

I'm level 30 in the MP and I can say without doubt that their are no campers in this game.

i must be imagining it then when i walk past an area without detecting anyone ( since staying in one spot continously isn't punished in anyway and you can't detect those who do so ) and some guy or guys  leaps out and shoots me in the back and wins since the character movement is so sluggish?

...which i seem to be imagining quite often?

Why were you alone? And surely they were punished for being there, right? And did you use your listen mode? It seems to me that you're not very good at this game.

Before I actually read through this thread, are there any spoilers up in here? I haves not finished the game yet so yeah.

No - MP only discussion.

Cool, a Last of us thread I can safely read! I was actually completely avoiding the Sony forums for a while as I wanted to be completely in the dark on the game. It's a new thing I started doing since Uncharted, as I already know I'ma like whatever Naughty Dog makes so why not maximise the surprise factor hehe.

lol why was i alone?

because generally in multiplayer i try to flank enemies i don't run to a corner and hide with my team and lay in wait for people to pass by

as i said above listen mode doesn't work on stationary people aka campers

honestly i don't think my problem is with the camping so much as how severely the game punishes movement

you want to get somewhere doing anything but walking like a crab? forget it

"It seems to me that you're not very good at this game."

well honestly so far i'd say that some of what qualifies as being good at this game isn't for me

i.e. ganging up on people and camping till you can shoot your enemy in the back

Flanking is a tactic is used when you're in a group in that your partners know where you're going and what you're trying to do. It's also something you do when you know where the enemy is.

Now, if they managed to kill you once when they're camping, surely now you know where they are and you can smoke them, burn them or nail bomb them out. You have to move to gather supplies so the game does encourage mobility. Not just mobility but smart movement as well. You have to know when to run and when to crouch.

If your team is getting beat by a team of campers then you're doing something wrong.

Why don't you guys just play each other (or with each other). Should help determine the issue.

I'm up for it.

I've been stealth killed quite a few times but I've been shived only once from behind my back only once. Thats how good a person has to be at stalking people. If you stay in one position your placement isnt given up while in listening mode while close. If you creep around you can be seen slightly and then you disappear. Your last known position is all people have to go on. This is why I throw molotovs for uncertain throws and save the shard bombs for dead on throws.
