So odd that for decades people have been looking at white serial killers in the media yet do not feel intimidated by white men. They've also been seeing black street thugs on TV yet they're afraid of black people because of it. There are approximately 5800 murders by blacks in the U.S. and 4600 by whites every year yet only one group is seen as murderous barbarians.
Look,I understand that there are more blacks committing murder than whites, but with millions of blacks in the U.S. and only 5800 committing murders how do all blacks get lumped into the criminal stereotype? It's just odd that people use this sort of thing to reason but don't apply it fully. For instance, white men commit spousal homicide and abuse more than blacks, yet no white men tell they're daughters to not date white men. Does black skin automatically make me bad?
My wife is white and has 2 sisters. All three of them have been married. Both my sisters in law married white men and ended in divorce. My wife and I are going strong and just had our 2nd child 5 months ago. When they were growing up their parents would tell them to stay away from black men. Funny how it's worked out.
I truly become saddened by how racially divided people have become though. And most of the time I mention it I'm being called a racist by whites or a race traitor by blacks because my wife is white. It's sickening!

No. And no one I know thinks Black people are better than them, either. That's ridiculous. (For anyone to think about anyone.)

So this whole thread just gets a "NO" stamped on it.

Edit: Although I would like to point out that I live in a pretty safe city overall. There aren't many murders, or break ins, or the sort. So it's not like I live in or anywhere around an area that could be considered "The Ghetto."

That's why I enjoyed living in the Caribbean. These racial issues are, for the most part, nonexistent. People of different races live in harmony with each other. Black, white, yellow act the same really. Everyone is just "irie". But there is a 'class issue', so in that sense there is some troubles. With that said, you'll find people will take issue with classes, clutures and sub-cultures, but rarely race (at least the countries I lived on). South America .... still has a ways to go. lulz

I will admit, I take no issue with black people from the Caribbean, Africa and the UK, but some African Americans I do find troubling, especially when you have to bridge a dialogue or something. For the record, I am mixed but I identity myself as a black person.

No I live in a predominately African-American neighborhood and went to a predominately African-American high school. I think the only Caucasians that are intimidated by black people are the ones that rarely have any social contact with people of different races and the ones that have been brought up to be racists.

I would have to agree with this. However I think if you're in the wrong part of town you may have reason to worry.

That applies to all ethnic groups though. Go to wrong place while visiting Mexico and you'll never come back.

I totally agree! I am from Jamaica and when I lived there my best friend was a "coolie" who had white and black parents. We had white, black, Hispanic, and Asian kids in school and it was nothing. I move to the U.S. and all of a sudden it seems like everyone hates everyone else. WTF!?

No. Purely for the "crime" of being proud to be white. This isn't a racist comment, it's more a dig at folks in the UK who would rather be orange or wrinkled than just be white. I look very young at 24 compared to younger contemporaries of mine NOT because I shy away from the sun, I love it, but because I don't damage my skin via sun tanning. People who use sun beds regularly look older and people who fake tan look orange. Black people look awesome because they embrace who they are and work it and black skin doesn't get as sun damaged as pale skin. Why can't we feel proud to be white?? I do and feel great - I'm very pale, have whitte, Asian and black friends and we all like aspects of each other. I love everyone... I'm just comfy in my own skin.

haha @ coolie. Ain't heat that one in a while padna. It's true. I lived in the southern tip for a while and I spent some time in Barbados, St. Vincent, Grenada and Trinidad, and while I was there race did not seem to be an issue. I will admit though, it is visible in Trinidad due to the indian vs negro talk, but for the most part both groups get along (except around elections). I went to Miami to meet a chick and to my surprise the racism was quite palpable. I was only accepted by some groups because I can speak Spanish, so they figured I was at least part of their own. That to me is not normal and should not be so.

Funny enough ... my friends in the UK left there for the US and have no intentions of going back. To them, the US presents opportunities for the black man while the UK stifles it. That was quite interesting to me.

Oh and my brother from another island ... irie and one love! *extends hand to give bounce as a show of respect*

There are many opportunities here for blacks and it pisses me of when I hear a black person saying how whites won't show them to have anything. Sure there are racial preferences when it comes to most jobs but if you're a black guy sitting at home smoking weed and playing Madden because "them crackers won't let a nigga have nuttin'" then you're a fool and a tool. Racism is rampant in American society and I'm equally upset at those who use the race card ad I am at those who deny racism exists.

Only if they are in a group. I kinda blame the media for this because they make the black community sound like they are all in gangs who like to stab opposing gang members. It's kinda sad really and it's far from the truth as most black people are quite friendly. London does have a gang problem though, but all races are apart of it in someway.

Fake Russian accent, it helps.

Seriously though, even after living abroad for years I can't get used to black people, they fascinate me -- you don't see them very often over here.

If you came to London, you would be truly fascinated. It's a global city in the sense that most races live somewhere in the vast city. Multiculturalism really took it's course since 2000 and things have really changed here. I think it's good though as i get to understand their differences and get a slice of their culture. Unfortunately, the older generations don't see it that way. Sad really as most immigrants are no worse than us. Hopefully, racism dies out with the old here.

But i understand it must be fascinating to you as there is mostly one race for the majority of Russia (like most of Eastern Europe)

No, I am not intimidated by black people in anyway.

Not in a bad way. I am intimidated by groups of men that look suspicious, by very large hostile looking men, by men who dress like thugs. But color doesn't matter.

Not in a good way either. I don't think black guys are better at sports, better at sex or more attractive to girls in any way. More to the contrary, I think it's still (a little) tough to be black in our society and that some people are still racist and are mean to black people.
