Wow, even I didn't expect it. That advanced gddr5-os-tech! Only taking 2.5gb of awesome memory to make everything awesome.

That being said, remembering that the PS3 only had 512 MB and more and more was freed up for games over time, I don't think this is a big deal. Games have up to 5.5 GB available to them on launch day. Over time in the generation, both the games and OS will be updated to be more efficient. |
For gamers, its really no big deal. Games will still look awesome on the PS4. For developers, if they need more than 5.5 or 4.5 GB, they will need to optimize their games more which is what they do.
Now for the fanboy, Oh, this is murder. You only have to be on a few threads when the fanboys start load their fanboy gun and shoot specs at the console they did not choose. Now instead of going into PS4 vs X1 fight, and the PS4 fanboy having an Sherman Tank and the X1 fanboy having a Glock, things have changed. The PS4 fanboy is reduced to using a desert Eagle while the X1 Fanboy still has his glock. Both will kill but the Desert Eagle has more power.

Oh boy, there is so much joke you can't miss it :)

After seeing how Sony Fans attacked Microsoft for "only" 5 GB for games you have to enjoy the meltdowns and Fans saying "DigitalFoundry can't be trusted". After all DF already spoiled a lot of things considering next gen that were true. But now they are unworthy xD Gotta love IGN/Gamespot comments :)

Sweeping generalizations again. After your similar behavior in another recent thread was pointed out to you, I thought you would learn something. Tl;dr: I fucking hate generalizations. |
C'mon man, you've got to admit, all Sony fans are evil.

Drama indeed.
We know XBOne uses all that space for TV TV TV TV TV, but PS4?
This drama shows why we PC gamers haven't strangled MS yet: each time MS bloats Windoze some more we can just upgrade our RAM.
In DOS era though, with that darn 640k conventional memory limit, and having to free as much as possible of it for many games, PC gaming required quite a large amount of masochism. Not to mention programming on it: having started programming on UNIX (not counting some awful BASIC lines on the Intellivision Computer Expansion
), the first and only time I had to program on DOS was a shock, I felt like I had been teleported in the Jurassic. My friend that was doing the project with me for that exam, though, was totally at his ease, he said 640k was a lot... Not surprising, he bought his first PC with the royalties from a Commodore 64 3D tennis game of which he was the main programmer...
