"Possibly legitimate..."

Perhaps, but I seem to recall hearing that Crisis 3 for Wii U was basically ready to ship when it was tossed. Granted, that could have been part of EA's "unprecedented partnership", but it does show that last-minute decisions of this kind are not without precedent.

"More likely..."

True, but with something like COD that sells so quickly, a delay of only a few weeks could have serious consequences. It may have been a factor in their thinking, in that sense.

"For DLC sales..."

With Microsoft, at least, Activision actually gets a cut of their subscription fees. Since that provides them with money, they're incentivized to encourage sales on that platform, rather than one where that revenue stream doesn't exist. That, and it is likely a much higher priority for them to establish a foothold on other next-gen systems.

"Quite stupid..."

Certainly, but companies have been known to try this kind of thing in the past. And remember what the guy from Infinity Ward said: "It's probably in the next-gen bin, but we're not actually talking about Wii U yet because we want to keep it mysterious. It's PR guys, it's not my fault."

In the end, the point I'm making is that there are other reasons they could be making they could have done this, and they're for the most part more plausible. In terms of making sense, Microsoft has little to no reason to target Nintendo, which doesn't compete strongly in a lot of the areas Xbox excels. More likely, they'd ignore Nintendo entirely to focus on Sony, which has far more potential to erode their market share moving forward.

@ bolded i disagree sure it sells fast but the games KEEP selling, so it being a couple of weeks late really doesnt affect it much because it not like people only buy the game in the first few weeks, hell Blops2 is still in the top 50 sellers and its July. (minus the Wii U version)

@ underlined i agree, I dont know why some people are hard on that insane theory, maybe some just dont want to admit that the fanbase for that game is simply not very big on Ninty systems.

True, but the more sales one platform has, the larger the community on that platform, and the more likely people are to buy the game for that platform. People are more prone to gravitate to what's popular. It's part of why WoW has endured so long; individual players don't want to abandon the community, even if the game they really want to play looks like a much better experience.

And I think it has a great deal to do with the appeals of the respective consoles. Nintendo consoles, at their core, are more "fun" centric; serious competitive games like COD rarely strike the same chord that brings people to Nintendo systems in the first place.

Thats fine but COD is popular enough that a few weeks delay wont hurt it that much, if people want the game they will get the game. Especially since its whats popular. Since the series is SO popular elsewhere is the WIi U version going to suffer that much if it comes out a few days later? Im inclined not to think so, but i imagine this year it will be released day and date with the others.

Your preaching to the choir, ive been saying as much for as long as i can remember, but i think the reason this riles some people up is they will read your sentence and just see "ahhh Ninty consoles are kiddy and only kiddy games do well" which is a very narrow way to look at it.

I am curious to see what they can squeeze out of the system. It should easily outperfom the ps360-version but should also be a good step behind xbone/ps4. I hope it's not a lazy port from ps360!

Perhaps. But a fair number of WiiU owners, especially those who might be inclined to play buy COD, probably own a second system. If you own an Xbox 360 and a Wii U, and you wanted to pick it up the week it launched, a delay on the 360 version could very well provide incentive to pick it up on the Wii U, and vice versa.

Very narrow. "Fun" isn't a dirty word, and Nintendo makes some incredibly fun games. But it's still just one way among many to enjoy a game.

great news. I was worried it wasn't coming, and this is probably the 1st COD i've actually had interest in. The gameplay was good on the wii with these titles, but the only thing fun to do was the online. I'm hoping that this title has a decent length to the story as the story itself is already interesting to me. The one thing that i've always felt COD has been lacking in. Now i just need to see if there's a reason to get it on wii-u or if the ps3 version will be just as good.

Black Ops II had a surprisingly good story I thought. It was the first COD since World at War that didn't feel like copypasta to me.

I seriously doubt that considering, the number of COD players on 360 are what? on average 10 mil? versus 190,000k on WIi U thats IF they are all playing online? No, because the game is so multiplayer heavy people are going to go with the system with the most players and thast 360 and PS3 by a mile. A week is not going to make that much difference and i dont see this changing soon.

I'm very pleased that the game supports the Wiimote + Nunchuk. The control scheme is too good to be abandoned.

It's the primary advantage this version will have, it seems.

That and local multiplayer without having to split the TV screen; a very underrated feature.

That much, at least, has been confirmed (the Infinity Ward interview "we're tossing it in with the next-gen bin," although he could have either been lying or, if Treyarch really is the one making this, just way out of the loop), but if we can take what was said at face value, it's a 4One Downport and not a PS360 upport.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I am really looking forward on comparison-articles between the 3 versions and their differences. I expect PS4 to run at a solid 60fps, like Xbone, but with more detail and better textures. But I can't imagine how the WiiU-version will look like. By now many things look current-gen on it and I hope we will see that WiiU can at least a little bit compete with the 2 big ones.
