Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft confirms UK first-party Xbox One game prices

OXMUK

Microsoft has confirmed recommended retail pricing for Xbox One games in the UK. The manufacturer's online store currently has Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5 and Kinect Sport Rivals down at £49.99 - more or less in line with the RRP for Xbox 360 titles.

If £50 sounds a bit steep, that's probably because you're used to buying games at a retailer discount - Xbox One games will undergo the same whittling-down process once they're in the hands of those who sell them. Eventually, anyway. This being the start of a console generation, Amazon, Shopto and so forth may wish to price games nearer the RRP for the moment. First-party Xbox One games carry an initial pricepoint of $59.99 in the US.

As Videogamer points out, Amazon currently has EA-published cross-gen racer Need for Speed: Rivals at £43.99 on Xbox One. We'll keep an eye out for further deals.

no change then. thats good.

Yet around half that view this news will be up in arms lol.

Glad to see we might get through this upcoming gen without another price hike on the games. That'd be nice in general.  Though if I recall correctly 3rd parties were planning to up the price on some of their games, but I might be mistaken.

...

Perfect. Exactly as it should be. £50 reduced by all shops to £40 like usual.

Hmm, pie.

This is a good thing.

Well done.

As far as I know its only EA so far who upped prices to 54.99, though I may have missed something.

good news. If they raised prices i just wouldn't buy new games from them. Really they should be looking to lower prices and bring in more sales. I think 29.99-39.99 is good for new releases.

£50 is perfect, unlike the £60 BS EA tried to pull.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I remember PS3 games at first selling for £50, it only took a few months for the regular £40 point to reappear. Also, Wii U games sold at £50 at first, cheaper now. But no difference is good
