In terms of Story, I think 999 wins out. Never has the branching paths mechanic has been used so well. Damn.

what is this game you speak of?

Hot Shit. Others that thought the story was just amazing in "To the Moon"

Awesome.

For pure story (not in how it was told) I might agree on this.

Other games might have had better story telling techniques (I love the way Bastion told the story, same with Suikoden 3 and then there is of course The Last of Us)

Yeah, I forgot Trials even though I bought it recently!

I also forgot some more really fun and fresh indies like: Super Meat Boy, Shatter, Orcs Must Die 1+2, Torchlight 1+2 (this is indie, right?), Trine 1+2, World of Goo, Amnesia: Dark Descent, Superbrothers, Killing Floor. Seriously, there are a LOT of indie games out there. Dismissing them all as bad or whatever, to me, isn't justified.

Where's the Cave Story love?

That's one indie game I haven't played...yet

It is actually really good.  If you get the chance defintely try it.

While we are talking about Indies, The Swapper is pretty good.  Extremely hard puzzles.  Much like a mix between metroid and Portal.

And ive been hearing good things about Rouge legacy as well.

I actually was waiting for The Swapper to get a flash/daily deal again since I missed it the first time during the summer sale. It never got as good of a deal again. Then there is of course Shadowrun Returns (tactical RPG), which comes out in 2 days!

It was only a month old during the summer sale so prob why they didnt give it a big deal.  It'll likely go on sale during the christmas sale though.

Haven't heard of Shadowrun Returns.  Is that related to the Shadowrun series for xbox?

It's a brilliant story, though game story qualities are difficult to compare, so I wouldn't necessarily agree that it's better than TLOU, MGS and BioShock.

Great story, great music, pretty lousy gameplay. Still definitely worth playing.

Also, if people are going to buy this from Steam, here's a tip:

Don't get the soundtrack bundle. I don't know how it is on the official page, but the one that is on Steam is horrific. Absolutely terrible audio quality with notable grainy areas.

well considering bioshock infinite is lite version of fringe and mgs4 is just dumb. that isn't impossible to do.

to the moon is not for me, boring boring game. Deleted it after 1 hour playing it.

Not playing, moving my character and clicking a key to move the text.

to me storytelling in games that are amazing are, mass effect series , metal gear solid 1 and dragon age and ff 7 and ff 10 was amazing too.

Not sure how i forgot mass effect.  Mass Effect is amazing XD  So i agree with you.  Though I havent played Dragon Age and im not a FF fan.

Will I need to play 999 before Virtue's Last Reward?

I heard yes. Apparently it's better than VLR anyways.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Bought it during hte steam sale. Can't go wrong for $3.

It's just that simple.
