The Indiana Jones IV comment aside (lol), I tend to agree.
There's a reason why games try to ape film-like presentation and cinematics and themes etc. etc. etc. Because they're trying to be like movies.
But they'll never be quite like movies.

Games can't compete with movies because they're 10+ hour investements of a person's time for starters, and that's a deal breaker to many people. The controller is another deal breaker.
Movies are simply more accessible as an entertainment medium ... you don't have to do anything but watch for 2-3 hours. The onus is entirely on the filmmaker to entertain you, not in your skill as a "player". That's why movies will always be more accessible to a wider audience (especially women).
Maybe some day if a "game" can be controller directly by your thoughts and connected to your brain, it could be like a form of lucid dreaming almost, but I think that's a ways off.
