you should post some GOW:A pictures, and Killzone 3.
and just for kicks Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2. those games are old but are only beat by a handful of games
I just realized, almost all the best looking games are PS3 games. And to think the PS3 isn't THAT much more powerful than the Xbox 360, imagine the difference in games next gen, where the PS4 is 50% more powerful than the Xbone. I'm getting excited for next gen, that's for sure.
Though I kinda agree with Ni No Kuni. The thread title didn't specify whether it was the art direction or technical fidelity, so it's really hard to say. I think a game like Wind Waker still looks better from last generation than any game looks this generation, because I realize that aesthetics are more than pixels and polygons.
My Console Library:
PS5, Switch, XSX
PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360
3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android
And then people here say Blu-ray was irrelevant... Those graphics with all those high-res textures in PS3 exclusives like Uncharted and God of War games, not possible on DVD. Not possible without requiring heavy intallations in the HDD either, and they would require minimum 3 discs each, which would hurt the cinematic videos (DVD compression) which in turn ruins the whole aesthetics of the games and their seamless transitions between gameplay and cutscene. Also, the availability of an HDD in every PS3 as standard makes possible for these games to be fully streaming all the time and have no loading screens, if only one lengthy one at the very beginning. Blu-ray and the Cell well very worth their salt, even if only for PS3 exclusives.
I chose The Last of Us, but I think it's a toss up between The Last of Us and GOW: Ascension. Nothing on consoles compare to those two. We'll have to see what Beyond 2 Souls brings though.
I am the Playstation Avenger.

Yeah GoWA is indeed at the top. Completely forgot! TOO MANY GAMES TO KEEP TRACK OF xD
For the record: I'm in the following top 5 camp =>
TLOU (2013) > God of War Ascension (2013) >< UC3(2011) > UC2 (2009) > GoWIII (2010)
I really prefer the look of ND's engine but as far as I am concerned: Only SSM's engine CAN compare to it in my honest opinion.

Lol most of those games are from last year, the only recent game is the last of us. This should be done after gta v releases cuz it looks waaaaaay better than TLOU
I'll have to go with Journey, or Bastion maybe. Both games are absolutely gorgeous. I feel like I'm forgetting something, though...
From a pure "ZOMG EXPLOSIVE POLYGONS!!11!" perspective, I guess Uncharted 3. Maybe TLOU. They're pretty close, imo.

Uncharted 2 and 3 should top the list imo. I don't like dark design so no tLoU for me.
