Vigil Games employees(Crytek USA) is helping out with the combat so hopefully they can make the gameplay more interesting.

So basically the QTE are executions, his only defense was that they are optional...He actually went as far as to call the execuaions mini-games...my god this guy needs to get fired. It still looks like a game that basically plays itself and requires little to no skill. Honestly I think my grandma could play this game XD.

I hope it sells well, I think it deserves a sequel.

When this is the case you should actually do research. People who played the thing behind closed doors and not on the show floor explained that the combat will be like Arkham City. The E3 demo we saw and what people played ont he show floor was a watered down combat system.
At SDCC the people behind this game said we will be seeing the same demo soon, but with the full combat in the game and ready to go.

I don't expect much from Ryse. Crytek is really good when it comes to graphics (almost unmatched, in fact), but making compelling games with interesting gameplay certainly isn't their forte.

Yeah the combat seems to be exactly like Batman and Assassins Creed.
And just like the combat of those games, the challenge comes with perfecting the system...ie. the system is meant to make you feel powerful.
Its a great system IMO.
However the optional QTE's or whatever they are...come up with every kill it seems. Its too much. They need to make it similar to god of war where its optional to go into the mini game/qte/sequence or whatever you want to call it. Or a execution system where you build up momentum and then use it for execution.
They just need to tinker around with the execution system and then I'll buy it in a heart beat. I'm a big fan of batman/AC combat

Gotta disagree with you. Crysis 1, Warhead and Crysis 2 were all good games. Really good actually.
Crysis 1 in particular was a gem of a game in my opinion. Its highly underated.

It could've been when you damage an enemy enough, you can hold one trigger of both, and push a face button to execute a finishing move which would give you 8 total finishing moves. Or, when they are damaged enough, you can press B to grab them and push a face button to execute a finishing move. That's how I would of preferred it. |
They are so optional the move happens anyway, it takes any sort of skill of a QTE out of the game. It is a QTE where there is no punishment for missing the button, how unbelivably stupid is that!
