No, nobody knows why 70million+ have been sold around the world...impossible question to answer. Yes of course MS should 'leave the console arena' because existenz2 doesn't see the point in it. Sorry Microsoft.

On topic: Sony lost 3.75 billion USD with the Playstation division since the release of the PS3. If you add R&D for the PS3 and the profits of the PS2 and PSP, which were totally offset, you get the idea how much Sony really paid for the 2nd place.

Nintendo made a huge profit with the Wii and MS made a healthy profit with the Xbox 360.
If you like it or not, this is the only thing that matters for investors and the companies. So yeah.

As a person who genuinely dislikes microsoft and most american companies just shh. I was never a fan of the 360 but it did bring a lot of good games and it helped make this generation amazing for everyone by creating good competition.

They're making good profit in the EDD now, X1 is a solid gaming machine now the DRM is out as well, no reason if you like Xbox/Xbox franchises you wouldn't get it (perhaps the price, but that isn't permanent).

It's very much like saying Wii U will be Nintendo's last console; it's utter rubbish. It would be their last one if they gave their 'best' effort and failed ;which it's very hard to consider Vita their best effort.

 

I'm not a Sony fan though I can understand how that is flame-baiting.
