We know the PS2 is down in FY2012 compared to FY2011... so PS2 < 4.1m

PS3 worst case scenario (PS2 = 4.0m): 77.5m
PS3 best case scenario (PS2 = 0.1m): 81.4m

Now everyting depends of how much the PS2 is down yoy... using the down % we have:

PS2 10% DOWN: 77.8m PS3
PS2 15% DOWN: 78.0m PS3
PS2 20% DOWN: 78.2m PS3
PS2 25% DOWN: 78.4m PS3
PS2 30% DOWN: 78.6m PS3
PS2 40% DOWN: 79.0m PS3
PS2 50% DOWN: 79.4m PS3

So take your bet.

So really, its still considered a ststistical tie. Guess next quartely result will be more concrete

Well at least they're profiting, shame that PS3 shipments are so low. Guess the PS2 was a bigger beast then we all though.

Why?

In Q1 FY2011 PS3 shipped 1.8m... all my estimates for the Q2 FY2012 uses numbers below that... to be fair I was using 1.5m... so why 1.1m is low to Q1 FY2013?

They shipped 6.1m between April and October... so two quarters with a month form the third quarter.

Q1 FY2012: 1.5m?
Q2 FY2012: 3.1m?
Q3 FY2012 (1 month): 1.5m? * they ship over 6m in this quarter for three months

Seems reasonable.... a drop from 1.5m to 1.1m is expected.

Doesn't change that Last of Us released in this time and pretty much did jack for PS3 sales. I expected a much higher number to be honest
