as I'm playing it right now, I can certainly see why some might not like it. As for myself I have a good but not great time with the game. (playing the Director's Cut).
- NPC faces look subpar
- face animations are very stiff
- huge differences in the transition from cutscene to gameplay
All of that is pulling me out of the otherwise great atmosphere.

- the game is not a good shooter
- there are (mostly) multiple ways to finish a quest, which is good but at least during the first few hours you don't even have options to choose from because nearly all of them require a certain upgrade, such as being able to hack level 2 (or 3 terminals), lift heavy objects, reduce fall damage, jump enhancement etc.
 which aren't available to a low leveled player at the same time. At the start of the game, you don't have a clue what kind of augmentations are useful during the span of the game, leading into wasting your upgrade points.
- I feel like the game doesn't know if it wants to be (semi) open world or a kind of linear experience. Detroit and it's quests were great and interesting. Milwaukee Junction and Highland Park weren't. Those were purely about getting from point A to B, from there on to C, then to D, then to E until finally reaching your destination at point F. All of that by walking through the same corridors and areas.
