from a business standpoint, getting persona onto xbox platforms doesn't make sense.

the market just isn't there on the platform.

persona 4 on the xbox 360 (sold just around 100k copies....) sold terribly compared to the ps3 version.  almost no incentive for microsoft to even try to get persona 5 onto the xbox one.

Wasn't an actual Persona game. Just a 2D fighter spin off. Spinoffs usually sell much less...

even if it is just a spin-off, there are so many other examples of japanese games selling poorly on the xbox 360.

there are a few exceptions, but for the most part, japanese games don't sell very well on xbox.  if the devs think they're going to make a loss on a platform, they probably won't make it.

same goes for microsoft.

While that may have been true last gen when the consoles were different I don't think that really holds up anymore. Now they are all so close to PC, with PC getting a decent share of Japanese support as well, releasing on Xbox as well as PS is easier than ever.

well, in that sense, if the devs see benefits of releasing on the xbox one, I'm sure they'll do it.  however, the costs of porting are still there and present.

and if they see losses dominating over potential sales, they won't.  And the xbox one selling poorly in japan doesn't help either. smaller devs or jp games with smaller potential for sales will hesitate more to develop for the xbox one.  They'll see ps4, how well it's sold in japan, and go there first.

Yup, even though Resident Evil and Resident Evil Revalations 2 just came out with the Devil May Cry games coming this month. Capcom is totally leaving Xbox.

Last gen capcom was completely third party, this one we already have street fighter and that monster hunter alike out of Xbox (I don't care for both btw), those are cross gen, while I think res will continue multi, DMC is already rumored to go Sony exclusive on the next installment.

With that said, I don't even like capcom games, I'm just trying to prove my point.

first off, the street fighter exclusivity happened due to financial issues.

second, is there a confirmed monster hunter on the ps4 that i'm not aware of?

The first Dead Rising, Steel Batalion, some Monster Hunter games and some other japanese games were exclusives in last gen.

DMC is RUMORED for Sony and Resident Evil is RUMORED for MS.

You're not proving your point.

For smaller devs, yeah little to no chance. Mid to large ones should really be multiplat though. PS/Xbox/PC at a minimum, maybe with Wii U as well, dunno how much harder it is to port to Wii U but if it isn't too difficult you might as well. Many fairly small games release on every console already, look at the Lego games for example they release on pretty much everything but they aren't mega sellers. So it is definitely possible.

I can agree with that.  In optimal situations, they should be multiplat, assuming all external and internal factors align.

Less true exclusives -> less XBO sales -> less incentive to release jp games on XBO

You disregarded that full first part...

You're making assumptions that Xbox One is going to lose tens of millions of sales as if that many console players are also playing on PCs powerful enough to play those games. And those people who already game on PC aren't buying Xbox Ones for Japanese games so they don't even fit in the same bracket.

I already commented on that first point a few times before.. I don't see a future with spencer leading, in the sense that he couldn't care less about jp games, it's not only the present, close future.. Is also on the mid-long future.

They do, some. Also, Jp devs look at the sales data and just think there's no point. And yeah, pc gaming is rising, so I do believe it will lose millions of sales.

Tiago I think you need to calm down. Are any specific games missing from Xbox One that you want.

Weren't you done?

Microsoft could finance it as well.

is not MH, is that clone they have, I don't even remember the name. There's also that new ip (deep down I think). So 3 games already.

fixed: "...I don't see a future for me on xbox one with spencer leading..."

Gears, thinking I would get the big third part jp games anyway. But XBO isn't getting them.

Xbox is getting FFXV and KH3, those are probably the biggest Japanese games there are.

Also, idk anything about Persona, but looking it up real quick in the database here none of those games has ever even sold 900k on any platform. Most of them seem to sell around half a mill. I'd hardly call that very big. Certainly not big enough where as Phil Spencer I'd feel inclined to pay them off to make their game multiplat.

Don't forget MGS and Resident Evil as well.

Very true. Especially MGS is really important to me actually, more so than any of those other games

Dead rising was released before the PS3 came out and ended up on the wii!

isn't steel battalion a Xbox1 game?

monster hunter was bought by Sony for psp, and Nintendo for 3DS. Special case, the confirmation of the rule.
