It is, but it also has no place in the crystal clear PS vs Xbox rivalry.

Xbox gamers have no problem keeping it mono-a-mono, its the PS gamers that can't seem to stand up on their own brand.

At that point we are merely creating debates due to made up rules. :/

Also, 360 obviously cannot keep it mono-a-mono if they need help from the PC to bolster it's library.

It works both ways.

Actually I can. It ain't difficult. When I mention Alan Wake, or Left 4 Dead, I am referring to the Xbox version. A PS gamer would refer to the PC version, as a PS3 version does not exist.

Its 1 vs 1. But your right, it does work both ways. Count FF14, Sly Cooper, PS Battle Royale, MLB. All multiplats not on Xbox. Its progressive thinking I know, but it paints a clearer picture.

You should refrain from seeing everything here as one group against another. We are all gamers.

Anyways, had a fun chat. Don't ever change.

Edit - Yes, I just read what I wrote and saying "refrain from doing this" and then saying "Don't ever change" does kind of give someone a "HUH?" response.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

I don't know what you're doing here then because the Thread title is "issue with the 'exclusives' argument".

If anyone asks me if Ico & SOTC are exclusive to the PS3, I will say no.
If anyone asks me if DC Universe is an exclusive to the PS3, I will say no.
If anyone asks me if MGS1 is an exclusive to the PS3, I will say no.

That's just my stance on it. I have a PS2, PS3, PC and I can play every single game that the "360 has and the PS3 does not". How some call that a 360 exclusive is beyond me as I ..very obviously don't need a 360.

That's an interesting point.  What's your thought on PS2 and PS1 classics on the PS3, Sales?  Do you count those in your comparison of the two platforms?

In a PS3 vs 360 debate, one would count PS3 and 360 games. Xbox origionals and PS1 classics are not 360 and PS3 titles. They are available on the console, but not techically a current gen game.

Now older gen games that get a remastered PS3 edition like GOW, Okami, SOTC. They have a PS3 retail cover and thus made the jump to a PS3 title, which then counts. Same goes for Halo CEA and the upcoming Fable 1 remake, which get updated for the current gen and get 360 covers.

Just simply keep it strictly to 360 games not on PS3 and PS3 games not on 360. Not Xbox vs PS3, no bringing in outside platforms like Wii and especially PC. Just simply, two specific consoles, and their differentiating games from the current gen.

This is why we designate the term "console exclusive." I count PC/360 games, as exclusive, mainly because I have a bad computer, but if someone had a good computer, I couldn't count them.

I don't think anyone ignores Alan Wake as a good 360/PC exclusive, and a reason to buy a 360 for $130 or so

--

As for Dead Rising, I've never heard that arguement before.... I agree with you there.

Believe me, ive tried and that just seems to upset people when you mention "console exclusive"

It ain't catchy, but the term is "Multiplats not on (insert rival console)"

"Exclusively not on ___"

Yea, but Wii/WiiU doesn't get a lot of multiplats.

I dunno, I own a 360, and no computer, so Console exclusives matter to me, and the term makes sense because for many, it doesn't.

OK.  Great.  If you don't mind dealing with technical specs, if you don't mind missing out on 360 games that haven't made it to PC, and if you don't mind the fact that your PC isn't able to take advantage of the superior graphics that come with the PC versions of most multi-plat games, then more power to you.  Sounds like you are satisfied with your set-up.

Doesn't work for me, though.  I only play games on console, because I DO mind the tech specs, the 360-only games, and the fact that you need to spend a whole lot of time and money to build a PC that can take advantage of high-end PC graphics (which, as I said before, would be one of the reasons I would play games on PC; no way would I play multi-plats on PC if I couldn't run them at a much higher quality than they run on PS3/360).  So it doesn't change the fact that the "everyone has a PC, so why buy an Xbox" argument doesn't hold up.

I'm not satisfied with my setup... I'm just saying I played Minecraft in a really low-en PC with the same experience than 360... so why Minecraft is a differencial factor on 360? Why people says it is a exclusive.

I can play Minecrat... now tell me where any 360 gamers plays Journey?

That's my point. I buy a 360 for Halo, Gears, Forza, etc... and not multiplat 360/PC... and vice-versa... I buy a PS3 for exclusives and not multiplat PS3/PC.

If you rule out PS1 & PS2 games, you rule out games that began on the PC as they don't strictly belong to a specific generation. And that excludes a bunch of these "exclusives" you are talking about.

it seems certain people want to leave out PC as a platform and lets be real here it is a platform to make the 360 look better. That is NOT how it works in the real world. multiplat=game released on mulitiple formats. 360/PC multiple formats

Funny since most people use PC to make PS look better. These multiplats are on Xbox, and Xbox gamers only refer to the Xbox version, not the PC version. Its the PS gamer who uses the PC version to complement PS exclusives.

This isn't even about comparing exclusives, this is about going above that and comparing games on one and not the other, in a true Xbox vs PS comparison.

xbox version? its the same damn game. some xbox gamers want to ignore the PC cause they know it will make the console look less favorabe, but the PC exists so deal with it.

xbox vs ps3? why stop their, what happened to Wii? Wii U? PC? why exclude those? Dont answer i know why.

lol cmon, we are all gamers, but doesn't change there is a clear rivalry....is it so hard to ask we keep things 1 vs 1? They benefit both parties and are quite progressive when you think about it, removing any unecessary filters.

- stick to 1 vs 1 with no outside influences.

- count exclusives, but also multiplats not on the other. This provides a clear picture as to what differentiates between the two. This affects PS3 as well given their PS2 remastered to PS3 games, PS3/Vita titles, and PS3/PC titles. It truly benefits both parties and doesn't filter out great games that can't be played on the rival platform.

If you game on your PC, that's fine. But doesn't mean it should affect a true PS3/360 comparison. It isn't about your gaming preferences, but simply what one offers and the other can't, standing up on their own, individual terms.

Please tell me that you understand where I am coming from....this isn't as self serving as it is about just painting a clearer picture, win or loose.

oh i know. I still hold that in the real world thats not how it works its not PS3vs.360, its PS3vs360vsWiivs.WiiUvs.PC etc. anyone who thinks differently is living in their own dream world to make their system of choice look better
