Forums - Sales - State of Decay sells 700K in June

OXM

Undead Labs' State of Decay sold more than 700,000 copies in June, making it the second-fastest-selling XBLA game of all time (behind, of course, Minecraft). Minecraft, for comparison, added over 250,000 new users in June, pushing its player total (not counting retail copies) to more than 6.8 million. Both titles are priced at what's considered the expensive end of the XBLA spectrum, going for 1,600 MSP ($20) each.

The XBLA version of hit iOS game Doodle Jump, on the other hand, appears to be struggling. Doodle Jump for Kinect (OXM score: 4.5) sold just over 1,000 copies in its first week on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The iOS version of Doodle Jump has sold over 15 million copies as of this writing, with sales of about 300,000 copies per month. Magic: The Gathering 2014 also debuted in the last week of June, adding over 50,000 players.

Spartacus Legends was the biggest debut for the last week of June, with the free-to-play title adding at least 225,000 players. Current figures are based on the multiplayer mode, so it's likely the numbers are higher, due to those who've downloaded the game but stuck to single-player mode. It's impossible to know how profitable the game is for developer Kung Fu Factory, though, since no data regarding how well the game's in-app purchases are selling has been released.

and that with all the problems the game has. just imagine it would have good graphics and not so many flaws!

Wow, State of Decay is selling very well.
It's also surprising that Minecraft continues to sell so well.

I think anybody that really appreciates gaming(specially free-roaming a la GTA) and attention to detail( not trivial stuff) would overlook those problems on an"on the budget"/experimental Arcade game.

People and myself really have fun playing this game, unless you're an graphics whore just like most of the likes of MS competition fans. Games are supposed to be interactevely fun and that's why GTA is adored worldwide and sell more than most.

Selling very well but is a little flawed, hope their next game with all these profits is just complete awesome :D.

Easy money formulas for decade 2010-2020:

Zombies (game, movie, TV show, comic) => $$$ from all the boys
Vampires (book, movie, TV show, comic) => $$$ from all the girls

very impressive. i love watching let's plays for this. i hope this game makes it over to PC... in it's state now or as MMORPG, i don't care. very cool open world zombie game.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

MS doesn't support indies my arse. You can only have a hit like this on XBL. Can't wait for their next game.
