Forums - Nintendo - Wii U gets second UK price cut!

Gets to the point that even proven Nintendo 1st party titles may not shift any negative perceptions.

It's the retailer negative perceptions that will do a lot of damage. They aren't going to bother pushing the 1st party titles or the Wii U after they have had to lose money on every sale just to clear stock. All shelf space will be devoted to the X1 and PS4.

At 200lbs for the premium that's about $300USD. So that may be more legit and may be what NA gets sooner or later...

Except consoles are always more expensive in the UK so I'd say this could very well equal $250. Btw, lbs is used for the mass unit pounds ;o

yeah but I didn't care to manually edit in a damn english pound symbol knew everyone would get what I meant.

You could always use the ISO 4217 code, which is "GBP".

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I sold my obviously used Premium pack for £200 just two weeks ago. Perfect timing on my part.

Just think, if the WiiU sales are this poor, wait til the XBone is out 6 months and the core gaming community are still shunning it. Maybe a $100 price cut for the first cut for XBone.

I'm sure Xbox One will sell much better than WiiU in the UK, even without a price cut

Selling better than the WiiU in the UK doesn't amount to much.  They need to sell at the rate of the 360 or better or they will have to make hard decisions.  Hardware lifecycles are much shorter nowadays.  There is a new version of the Ipad and Kindle Fire every 9-12 months.  This generation WILL NOT be 7-10 years, it will probably be more like 4-6 years at best.  So, they need to sell reight away to have a chance to get market share.  The only areas where olderr systems sell is emerging markets, an area that M$ sucks at.

Wow, it must be a total bomb in the UK. Seems like retailers are panicking.

If the report I read was correct, it's not so much a bomb as a thermonuclear warhead, one which looks up tol the Vita's sales performance.

Strange statement when weve just come off the back of the longest generation yet. Hardware iteration of phones and computers have always outpaced console, just because Apple started numbering them so people can keep count doesnt mean were seeing anything new. i personally think theres a good chance this is the last console cycle anyway for Sony and MS, theyve both gone x86 now to help them transition to a service based platform in the future, just no money in hardware anymore.

That's actually my point, there will be no need for the next generation console.  The processors in tablets will be more than powerful enough in 2-3 years that it will not pay to have a device like a game system by itself.  Thus the 4-6 year cycle.  This generation has a whole different meaning to M$ than Sony.  M$ is making a device that will be connecting their tablet/phone/ and PC into one streaming system.  Sony should have teamed up with google to do the same.  Either way, M$ has bigger fish to fry, that's why gamers didn't like their focus on anything other than games at their launch event.  M$ will bring back most of the features that they announced, just with a more optional approach. Most casuals will eat it up, and when they can tap into that market, things will change for the PS4.  Eventually, Sony will begin to talk more about how the PS4 can do all the same things that M$ is talking about.  Most people don't remember that Sony is one of the grandfathers of DRM.  Sony is a big distributor of movies and music, they were one of the first to put out music and movies with an early version of drm.  They also have/had very strict pricing controls on their equipment and media products.  So, when they talk about drm, they don't talk about movies or music, that would put them out of those businesses.  It will be interesting to watch how this all plays out over the next 2-3 years.

Why are you reporting such old news. When you said £50 off i though you meant it was down to £100 now (which is a good price).

Such a misleading title.

Nintendo should have really thought the wii u over more, i don't see it selling anywhere over 30m
