That's actually my point, there will be no need for the next generation console. The processors in tablets will be more than powerful enough in 2-3 years that it will not pay to have a device like a game system by itself. Thus the 4-6 year cycle. This generation has a whole different meaning to M$ than Sony. M$ is making a device that will be connecting their tablet/phone/ and PC into one streaming system. Sony should have teamed up with google to do the same. Either way, M$ has bigger fish to fry, that's why gamers didn't like their focus on anything other than games at their launch event. M$ will bring back most of the features that they announced, just with a more optional approach. Most casuals will eat it up, and when they can tap into that market, things will change for the PS4. Eventually, Sony will begin to talk more about how the PS4 can do all the same things that M$ is talking about. Most people don't remember that Sony is one of the grandfathers of DRM. Sony is a big distributor of movies and music, they were one of the first to put out music and movies with an early version of drm. They also have/had very strict pricing controls on their equipment and media products. So, when they talk about drm, they don't talk about movies or music, that would put them out of those businesses. It will be interesting to watch how this all plays out over the next 2-3 years.
