Forums - Nintendo - When Will The Wii U Drop? <(^_^<)

The Wii U's first price cut will be when?

2013 - Between Now and October 15 16.13%

2013 - Holidays 33 35.48%

2014 - Late Winter 7 7.53%

2014 - Spring 14 15.05%

2014 - Summer 6 6.45%

2014 - Early Fall 4 4.30%

2014 - Holidays 4 4.30%

Sometime past 2015 2 2.15%

Never!!! >:D 8 8.60%

Total:93

I had made a thread talking about how much it was gonna drop by, now let's focus on the when! I'm personally betting on a Spring cut to coincide with MK8. Despite the timing for the 3DS, I think they'll hold off on a Wii U cut this year as it should be fine for the rest of 2013 with all the titles it has coming out, the inevitable bundles, and of course the holiday season, but that's all just my opinion of course. What do you all think is the best time for the price cut!? Discuss below now!

Summer or Fall 2014.

What games do you expect will be released during that time?

Agree, April to coincide with Mario Kart 8.

Basic-$199, either discontinued or kept around as a cheap alternative to compete with PS360

Deluxe Mario Kart 8 bundle-$299, $100-200 cheaper than PS4/One and comes with a high profile game, should do very well against them.

I think around the holidays or when MK8 launches.

They are going to drop it, the question is when are they going to.

They have held off this long, so they will probably hold off till at least Christmas time.

I believe the reason for this is because they want to coincide the price cut with a significant game release. Thus far they haven't had any key releases, hence no price cut.

Sometime during their next fiscal year, doing it anytime before that is gonna cause them major problems since it's sold at a loss right now.

iirc, then that'd also make it a great value against PS360.

Smash Bros 4, Mario Kart 8 and a teaser for another Mario platformer and the next gen Zelda.

MK8 is in Sping ya foo! But yeah I also think that's when Smash n Zelda will release. Smash in Summer, Zelda in Fall/Holidays. I think they'd go with MK8 for the price cut though, since it has a bigger audience and the Wii U could use a price cut sooner rather than later.

Not saying its impossible but price cuts very rarely happen around the holidays, they are usually 3-4 months before or after so around April or August. Retailers usually do some nice deals/bundles around the holidays so that kinda takes away the need for an official price drop.

Id say either a $50 cut when Pikmin 3 launches since starting with that game there is a big exclusive every 3 weeks and would help build up momentum going into the holidays. Or up to $100 in April alonf with Mario Kart, that would be a great way to start the next fiscal year.
