UK retailer Asda has slashed the pricing of the 8GB Wii U Basic package and is selling the console for £149.99. The recommended retail price for the 8GB Basic package is £249.99. The supermarket chain has also discounted the Wii U 32GB Premium console down to £199.99. The recommended retail price for the 32GB Premium is £299.99. I’m not sure how long the deal is for, so if you’re in the market for a Wii U then be sure to take advantage of this offer.

This is £100/$150 off RRP.

For comparrison i'd say it's like getting the Wii U Basic in the USA for around ~$179 ish.

Yeah, this has been happening quite a lot in the UK. If you miss this deal you will have another shot in a month or so.

The 8gb is still about £149.99 too much and the 32GB Premium is about £299.99 too much as well.

That is a bargain alright. It may be worth getting one now for those people on the fence before the games come and the prices go back up.

Didn't HMV do Wii-U Deluxe + NintendoLand + ZombiU for £199 a while back? I could've sworn they did.*

Regardless, until October-onwards swings around I can see this unofficial price slashing happening again and again; this isn't the first time it's been down to these prices.

A pretty good deal nonetheless if you've got the money right now & have some interest in one for the future.
