As we all know, MK7 introduced courses that were made up of sections, meaning you always saw something new throughout the entire race. Much different from laps this is where you go around the same course three times. So with that out of the way, what do you all think about this new track design? Do you prefer it over laps or vice versa? Would you like more of these tracks in MK8? Discuss away!

As for my opinion, I do like how it adds more variety to our track selections, though I don't like how bannas are nerfed on these courses. Overall I prefer laps, but that's also partly because I wasn't much of a fan of the section courses themselves in MK7 a.k.a. the Wuhus. I still think the idea is nice, and would like to see a couple tracks implement this feature in MK8, just as long as the majority are still lap based.

No more sections! Rainbow Road in MK7 wasn't very enjoyable as the past ones because of trying out the whole "sections" thing with it. I get that it's a very large course, but 1 entire lap was definitely not enough, 2 would have been better.

Just be rid of the "sections" courses, only laps please!

Each section is basically the equivalent of lap, meaning the course will take the same amount of time as any other.

I enjoy Laps more as I feel they can get more congested with items, which in turn makes them a lot more interesting in that way over sections. Although, sections do have a nice atmosphere.

Overall, though, I'll go with the classic Laps.

Yeah, it could make it seem more like an adventure than just a race. The problem is the Wuhus weren't very adventurous courses, atleast not to me. Being based off of real life stuff is probably the issue. Now if they made that candy course shown off in the MK8 trailer section based, then I'd likely enjoy it more, and perhaps so would others.

Agreed. Rainbow Road was way too short with just one lap.

 

OT: They are pretty much equal, but I'll choose laps since sections makes longer maps last shorter. (And I'd love longer lasting races once in a while :(

I'm positive that they're not shorter. I'ma go into MK7 and look at their time trial times.

This becomes more true if fake item boxes make a return like I'm thinking they will based on the trailer.

Yes, they are. They are one third as long as they would have been if they made it two more laps, which would be possible since the third section is always connected to the first in Mario Kart 7.
