Forums - Nintendo - Polygon - Nintendo wanted to shut down Super Smash Bros. Melee Evo event, not just stream

I'm going to assume that this is a misunderstanding, but oddly wouldn't be surprise if it were ture. What's your take on this, if no one haven't posted this topic already?

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

I assume EVO makes money off of its events? (I have no knowledge of the pro-gaming circuit). If so, that would be why. The line regarding fair use with Nintendo now seems to be firmly set at "making money off of the use of our products."

And this is because of the silliness of American intellectual property law, which in this particular case gives too *few* rights to rightsholders, namely that if they do not defend any and every infringement that they are aware of, future infringers can claim trademark abandonment and see the thing slip into public domain.

The rights of both IP holders, artists, and consumers all need to be seriously rebalanced for the 21st century.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

There most likely hasn't been a topic on this because some one at NoA grew a brain and reversed their stance right away.

I'm surprised we're still getting stories about this.

The person who made the decision obviously got a stern scolding and corrected their evil wrongdoings.
But we still don't exactly know why they did it. Possibly for what Khan said about Evo making money on the stream/event?

Uh it's polygon, so I'll withhold my breath until a more credible site reports the same

I saw this earlier linked from a site called Eventhub. Is that better?

Well then looks like someone at Nintendo went crazy. Then the collective force of the internet slapped him/her across the face.

I dunno, this may have simply been a mistake. I still don't see Nintendo stating any intention on wanting to close it down.

Just another example of how Nintendo lost touch, soon it will all come back on them

Without order nothing can exist - without chaos nothing can evolve.

Many fighting game developers really want their games to be featured on EVO, and here's Nintendo trying to get their game out of EVO. I have literally nothing.
