It could, the 3DS and Vita aren't completely meant to fully compete with each other, it's really the exclusives. Once the exclusive start to come in, well start to see a health battle between both handheld platforms.

There's a chance, but maybe for only one week. You have to understand that Nintendo releases quality first-party games for 3DS. This year they have Yoshi's New Island, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Mario Golf, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Pokemon X & Y, and Mario Party 3DS. Sony is going to have a hard time releasing quality first-party Vita titles regularly. I have a Vita, and the game I'm really anticipating is Tearaway. But I think Sony has until Pokemon X & Y to release games because that'll be the game that'll make the 3DS dominate the Holiday season, even the next-gen consoles.

It only releases in Europe a week earlier.  The US release is the same week as MH4 in Japan on 3DS.

The fact the Killzone release is staggered already hurts the Vita's chances and it's all but eliminated given that the latter part fo the staggered release competes against MH4.

But it can get a Final Fantasy or a MGS game.



PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

in europe only?..  just look the link.. NA 4th sep, EUR 6th sep..

 

edit: ok, its 10th sep in NA..  MonHun 14th sep in JAP...but that's different's weeks in VGChartz data..
