Come on guys, can't you read a five lines op ?

It is about a NEW IP, so no FF, no GTA etc...

The only serious contender is Destiny IMO. From Bungie and Activision, planned to be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 et Xbox One, to be advertised as hell, and planned to be a ten year franchise.

The AAA business model is bonkers. They're trying to turn gaming into Hollywood, which is as misguided as it is foolish.

I would like to think that this is something that's been taken a bit out of context by Cliffy.

I could imagine the new IP in question is Destiny, and that throughout the course of the 3 game deal they have with Activision, the IP needs to sell 10 million to break even for Activision on their investment as a whole.

Because if we're talking about 10 million....for a single game....a new IP.That's just absurd

Destiny (I expect a huge CoD level advertising campaign plus brand new engine lots of platforms, huge production) or The Division (MMOs are expensive plus the production values are insane and then there is the Tom Clancy tax)

 

~$100m production plus ~$200m marketing

I'm with those who think he heard it wrong. 10 millions to break even?  C'mon!

The only new IPs that could fit into that madness, because of hype, are Titanfall, Destiny or WatchDogs, and although WatchDogs will launch in a lot of platforms, I take Ubisoft as a quite sensible company (financially speaking) so I doubt it's them.

That leaves me with either Titanfall or Destiny, and I doubt EA or Activision will want to risk that much at the begining of a gen (next Xmas would be another thing).

I don't believe it.

I think he mixed up what he heard or something. And now without confirmation, he's making things up. Simple. Maybe they are projecting 10 million which is different from needing 10 million to break even.

My guess is Watch_Dogs/Destiny
