Justified? Hardly. The same people that complain about weak specs also consider the PS2 to be the greatest console ever. Now given the FACT that it was far weaker to the GameCube and Xbox, yet they still consider it quality and part of that generation of consoles only shows they are being biased. Some are so pathetic they've even convinced themselves 233mhz is more powerful than a 800mhz PPC based chip such as in xbox.

Every reason people are bringing up applies to past consoles yet they wont see it the same way.
When PS4 and X1 have game droughts it wont be seen the same as it is now on Wii U.
Just like lower clock speed was a huge issue til the fact PS4 also had lower clock speed came out and now it isn't a fact that lower clock speed equals next gen.

PS2 wasnt FAR weaker than GC or Xbox, Wii was FAR weaker than PS360, theres the difference. Plus PS2 didnt release 5-6 years AFTER there were consoles on the market stronger than it.

I'm sure its specs are fine but to have only one first party 2d side scroller for the first 8 months of its life? For that Nintendo deserve a blasting and they know it. That is the reason for the bad sales and so I think people (particularly owners such as myself) should be hard on Nintendo. Defending them will only make them think they have done nothing wrong. It's all over Miiverse anyway. People are sick of the lack of games and the resulting small install base.

No. Sales are horrible. If we are not hard on it, then who will be?

Sales have nothing to do with people bitching about the tech specs or complaining that they don't personally like such and such game that is coming out for it.

Actually as far as processing power goes.. (If you go by that..) The GC was a 486 MHZ.. which is a little over twice the power of the PS2.. so looking at it on that spectrum alone.. yeah.. it was far weaker than the GC andeven more weaker when compared to the XBOX.. and the Wii.. yes far weaker than PS3 and 360.. but they are both in the same boat.. if you look at their best titles.. damn if you can notice it.. they compared very well side by side.. with the competition.. and I think the Wii U does a very good job of this too.. and this is a system that is already almost a year old.. these others are brand new and not even released yet.. and yes I know the graphics will get better on PS4 and XBONE.. but I also know they will get better on the Wii U.. I know the Wii U is going to be the weakest.. and yet.. it will still be a strong in side by side comparisons with other consoles.. Just as the PS2 was.. and The Wii Was...

Nintendo Wii by generations...

1. Wii

2. Wii U

3. Wii O U

Predictions made by gamers concerning the current Nintendo line up of games.

Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)

Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)

Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)

I think there is more to it than MHZ and I wouldnt even put PS2 and WIi in the same boat, PS2 actually got alot of games that its superior console brethren got, cant really say the same for Wii as ALOT of games got skipped over due to lack of power on Wii's part. Hell the games that were shared by Wii and the HDs the difference between those were night and day, they werent even the same games in some cases. Again not really the case with PS2 and the GC XBOX ports, there were noticable differences but nothing too crazy.

I disagree WIi u just doing a good job, IMHO is not cutting it, not when its only barely looking better than consoles that have been on the market for years. We are already seeing games that look better on PS4/x1 and they are not even out yet, whats gonna happen when devs really harness the power. Wii was never strong with side by side comparisons, that was one of the problems. What games were you playing were you can honestly say you didnt notice the difference between the HD and Wii versions. Besides the DLs, and Rayman, hell you can even see a difference in JD

The positioning, capabilities and marketting of this are all wrong

Therefore it deserves what it gets

Okay fine.. if you want to compare every game on a side by side front.. let's do it.. the fact is the PS2 got the games yes.. but everything and I mean everything looked better on the Gamecube and The XBOX.. the only one that PS2 actually beat was Dreamcast... and even then it was by a slim margin.. and no the PS2 didn't have crazy differences.. but the PS2 did not have motion controls either... it was not a big selling point... The PS2 sucked... in terms of power and graphics compared to the other systems.. The enviroments looked worse.. the lighting was worse.. the High Def was terrible.. compared to the others.. and frankly.. it was way out of it's league... if it was not for the fact that it had DVD playing capabilities.. (Right out of the box) and backwards capability... it probably would have tanked for the most part... but the fact that it did.. saved it.. because it sure as heck wasn't raw power or the Internet Playing that was it's strong points.. like wise with the Wii if it wasn't for the waggle.. and cheap price point along with backwards capability.. it probably would not have went over as well.. the only difference I can see was total game library.. which was not part of my post.. so actually yes they are in the same boat.. they both had what consumers wanted/thought they wanted.. and sold well for it..

The moment Nintendo realises that third party don't want to develop on their systems the better their systems will be because they will be proactive and not reactive in releasing content on their systems,

Even with huge sales I don't think they would get much support. Look at 3DS as an example, how many top tier 3rd party western devs have jumped onto that system? Even the VITA is getting better support from the western world and we know how much support vita is getting atm.

No, I don't think people are being too hard on it. And I bet lot of those being hardest on it are Wii fans.

WiiU ditched what made Wii successful in pursuit of some pipe-dream of constant "innovation" that Nintendo set for themselves, all the while being nowhere strong enough for 3rd parties expecting much more power to provide easy porting of next-gen titles.

Unfortunately, it is badly conceived console that failed in both goals Nintendo set for it - it neither managed to attract back casuals, nor it convinced 3rd parties to embrace it, thus potentially bringing in more "core" gamers.

I'm very reluctant to reward Nintendo with my money for such a lackluster vision, but, alas, at the end, next Zelda will be only available there.
