this is a HUGGGGGE stretch but imagine if it outsold Gold/Silver! Thats Some Major Accomplishment. Pokemon Z should be coming out 2015 holiday and hopefully that sells well too

As I said, I see a huge marketing push for the game. I also see a big push for Pokemon in general because Nintendo will want to rely on the series to help both the 3DS & Wii U. Neither one is selling too well, not only when compared to DS & Wii but also GB/GBA & N64/GC. 3DS sales have been increasing but they're still are nothing special, Nintendo knows this.

The fact that they are releasing it at the same time WW is very telling IMO. They have something going on. As for Pokemon U? I expect something more than Ramble. I see a full retail NFC game that will at the least make Nintendo buckets of money.

I could be wrong, and I know it's unlikely but I see very big things for it.

Why have Pokemon games sales consistently gone done?

it went up in 4th gen, and should go up again gen 6 imo!

What makes you say that?

↓↓↓This here↓↓↓

Pokémon Red / Green / Blue 31.37mil
Pokémon Gold / Silver 23.10mil
Pokémon Diamond / Pearl 18.07mil
Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire 15.85mil
Pokémon Black / White 14.72mil
Pokémon X/Y ????????

4th Gen had better sales than the 3rd gen and 5th gen didn't last long+ BW2 came out very fast (also DS piracy caused less sales). X/Y should definitely at least pass 16mil lifetime imo! Hopefully more

Piracy on the DS was very low compared to the PSP.

The way I'm seeing it is like this:

Pokémon Red / Green / Blue : N/A
Pokémon Gold / Silver : -26%
Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire : -32%
Pokémon Diamond / Pearl : +14%
Pokémon Black / White : -19%

well to be fair for gen 1, it was revolutionary and its the best selling handheld game of all time and like 4th or 5th including home console. but anyway using your #'s pokemon x y should sell a hell of alot which will put it 10%+ increase (over 20% if it does 18mil+

18-20mil

14-16 million.

My wife and I are excited to get our hands on both versions.

The increase in sales happened once - that does not mean it's a trend. The trend is clearly a downwards one.

Also, revolutionary? Really? I would say good marketing and lack of competition.

So you dont think its gonna past BW sales(over 15mil)? Also It kinda was revolutionary at its time. I mean battle, trade, explore, capture 151 monsters! In terms of overall gameplay I say so

Well, let us not discount that Nintendo spend more than $50M back then to market the game. That's more than $70M in marketing today :)

It'll be very hard to reach Diamond/Pearl, as the DS was a beast back in the day. Would be awsome if it would get in the Gold/Silver region, but this won't happen.

I'd say somewhere between 15 and 20 million...(voted 16-18)
