Forums - Gaming - Pacther: MS to pay Sony $150-$250million in royalty for Blu-Ray. Says he is right 70-80% of the time

no wonder Sony is charging for online mp, looks like they'll be paying MS $2-$3 for each console :p

Damn, $250 million? Microsoft is in trouble. They might have to settle for serving domestic beer with dinner instead of imports at their next few business conferences.

Pachter's track record is significantly better than 90% of the people on VGChartz.  People here make absolutely horrible predictions.

People just get mad at Pachter because he has slammed their console of choice.  He's taken shots at everybdoy at some point.

I disagree. I would say we are on par with him. Besides, we don't have a fancy high paying job as an industry analyst - we expect a higher batting average.

Manny Pacquiao vs Michael Pachter.. Who wins.. Pacuiao's $30 mil dollar deal to lose the fight or Pachter's %30 error rate.

That is really tough lol I choose Will Ferrell

Sony dont own blu-ray..where is patcher geting this from

Some real goodies here

He thinks it's $2-$3 per Blu-Ray drive

He also thinks DriveClub will be free with PS Plus because Sony think it won't sell much (hello?? Motorstorm?). He fails to mention that the game is actually not the full version.

And: "My predictions aren't really predictions because I don't give a damn"

And: "The clients want answers now. They want to talk to me, because I'm the man."

Well Motorstorm didn't sell good the first game got most of its sales due to bundles and it was bundled over a year and no other game in the franchise got even 1/3 of the sales of the first game.

Well if Patcher was 100% right all the time... he'd be a fortune teller. Not aware of anyone who is 100% right all the time. He is right more often than anyone on here. Don't get butthurt because he said something about the console you are in love with

Also Sony does own a part of Blu Ray. Those saying they don't are misinformed or stupid. Pick one or the other

It was bundled in the US for over a year I'm sure most of its sales (over 2/3) in North America came via bundles.  The sales of the other games in the franchise proofs that it was heavily bundled.  Its first ten weeks sales also proofs that it was heavily bundled it barely sold 54K units in its first ten weeks.

Microsoft and Sony are both using the same Blu-Ray drive, which is a Sony unit.  So yes, Microsoft is going to be paying a lot to Sony per Blu-Ray drive.

Sony Optiarc was shut down end of last fy. (In case you wonder, Sony Optiarc was the company that made optical drives....). Try again.

I don't think you need the manufacturing group to be present when you already have trademark or royalties to make money out of a product.

Sony Started Blu RAY Just check the history And panasonic was Brought in to make it official SOny had the flirst disc the first players the first bluray everything BDA was only formed after a venture was agreed upon with sony so actually person's in the venture still has to pay sony, or giv sony most of the money made!
