Forums - Microsoft - Kinect Paranoid Much? Well Have You Thought About.....

pretty sure if they don't change the bundle by launch you won't ever see a non Kinect bundle.... It would make even less sense to change that in X years than backtrack before launch....
you might be able to unplug it by then but I doubt a whole lot we'll see a Kinect less bundle ever....

that said.... I love people that say they don't want X corporation collecting data on them... do they realize no matter what they do.... data are collected somehow on them and products and marketing research are made for them..... they can even be amish living in an amish towns, that they are still researched upon and marketed toward.... unless you have no financial value you are will be spied upon and studied for capitalization.....
so not being on FB or Twitter is in itself an information about you they can use to correlate with other info publically accessible or other info you have been providing without knowing in the past to build up a profile.... granted it is usually not done individually but by groups of socio styles.... but basically avoiding spying in itself provides information about you....

and I love even more people against ads.... pretty much everything is add supported.... logos, brands, jingles are everywhere all the time... and unless you work for a company that sells and nothing at all it is one of the reason you have a job, you keep it and the company expends and is able to raise your salary and hire more people.... it is also what allows fast product adoption and market penetration allowing to star at a lower price with higher production output and to lower that price faster.... without advertising consoles computer well pretty much everything relying on trend and/or innovation would be way more expensive than they are today.... and most of couldn't afford it.....

I agree some companies abuse of their power, but customers are getting more and more entitled without realizing the implications of their demands.... they want the pros without the cons but it is usually not feasible or it is but at a cost they are usually not willing or not able to pay......

People are definitely overreacting because of what's been going on in the news lately; as long as I can mute my kinect I see no problem with it (especially since my computer's webcam is always on).

Or maybe they just don't have any interest in Kinect. I know it's a novel concept, but I find it laughable that anyone that has anything negative to say about the XB1 is Sony fan. The Xbox 360 has been my primary console of the generation. The PS3 has been my least played console of the generation. I don't have Kinect and I don't have any interest in it.

Just unplug the damn thing when you're not using the console if you're so worried. Or toss a blanket over it and put some tape over it's "ears."

I enjoy having as much privacy as I can have nowadays. No Facebook, Twitter, Xbox One... I will get get by without any of them.

So no cell phone/phone of any kind, laptop/computer, or internet for you then.

Oh wait... you're using the internet to post on this website right now. Unless you are using a series of rerouting proxies, they could easily track everything you do and even track you down just from posting stuff online.

So if people really want to be paranoid they need to quit being so selective about it! Lol.

"Oh I'm only paranoid about facebook and the kinect. The internet and my cell phone can't possibly be spying on me."

Wow, you sure are a baby about all of this. I said "as much privacy as I can have" and have chosen not to use programs such as facebook and twitter. And I have chosen to use other systems that do not ask to watch what I do.

If you can't get by without using those, that's fine, that's up to you.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

@Darc requiem

yeah but the problem I have with those people is it's not because you as an individual have no interest in something bundled that you have the right to ask for its removal and that the company should abide by your request....
that's like people asking to change an item on a four course menu and then ask for a price cut it doesn't work like that.... you go in a restaurant... usually you can change stuff if they accept and if they do the price stays the same or you even have to pay more while it doesn't always cost them more and if you are not happy with that you can either pick something else or go to the other restaurant down the road....

here if you don't like the full package you are free to not use it but you can't remove it or ask for a price cut or a combination of both.... it is as it is and if it doesn't suite your expectations or your needs you can always go to the competition and yes if enough people do the same they will change their "menu"

but in that particular case I doubt enough people are really that put down by it.... it's more a combination of price and lack of interest with a hint of unfortunate news invent (NSA)...
but that's why I think XB1 will have legs... cause once it will be in the 300 bucks area people won't mind as much the Kinect and by then it will have proved it's reliability in application or at least in privacy and the rest of the media offer will be well developed too...

To be sure you aren't spied on, just say in presence of Kinect 2 that you planted some tons of ammonium nitrate and fuel next to some gov't building. If nothing happens, it's all right, if FBI comes and shots you dead or stuns you and you wake up in Guantanamo, then Kinect was spying on you.
