I would rather have FF9 since there is no FF9 available  on the PC.

EPSXE + Playstation version = Upscaled smoothed out goodness.

Eh. At least this version doesn't have the bS that FF7 is pulling with the anti-grinding thing.

I don't get that too.

The PC version was released in 98.

What I read this is based in the Digital version that have Achievements, Cloud Saving, Character Booster and 1920x1080 resolution (no graphical enhancement... the same graphcis upscalled to 1920x1080).

Not the same PC version as the audio files, resolution , etc are different.

It is a better port than the old PC port but still not "Perfect" like the PSX ver.

At least now I dont have to use another third party software and pay full price on SE store - I can get it for cheap when it goes on sale *-*!

€12.99 / £9.99 / $11.99 isn't cheap enough for you?

This is a crazy price for a 15 years old game on Steam...

Even on PSN is costs less... $9.99 (expensive yet).

I payed 48 british pounds for it new in like 2005.. worth it... PC version is pointless with epsxe around though... the filters that one can apply.

wtf? 70+ dollars for it in 2005? I bought my copy which was a greatest hits PSX version in 2004 for $19.99.

Oh, the joys of having PAL region only systems back then =P

Yeah I may pick that up eventually. Since it's on Steam maybe I can grab it up for like $5 at some point.

Yep betting on that as well especially since summer sale is soon!

It is currently selling since its on top seller (according to it) - maybe hopefully this translates to SE to release more FF games......(Still hoping/praying for Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions to be released n______n)

**Looks at Square's IOS pricing policies**

Not sure i'd bet on that.

Final Fantasy VII's Steam release comes with steamworks features, such as cloud saves (no pun intended).

About a year ago, Square Enix released a PC remastering of what many fans consider the "best" Final Fantasy game: Final Fantasy VII, on its official online store. The game is now finally available on Steam, and comes with a whole suite of Steamworks features, such as Steam achievements and "Cloud" (har har) saves. It's also, somewhat ironically, unavailable for purchase in Japan.

You'll be able to unlock 36 Steam achievements, and play the game with a controller in Steam's "Big Picture Mode" for just $11.99. A "Character Booster Tool" is also included, that allows players to tweak HP and MP bars of their characters.

Early reports suggest that the Steam version still requires you to log in to Square's servers to play, meaning you'll have to deal with a double-dose of DRM.

For a quick recap, the remastered PC version contains:

  • Much higher resolution textures
  • The addition of a Z-buffer, so no more shaky polygons like the PSX version
  • Support for 16:9 resolution (but the image will be stretched)
  • Support for most modern machines without any issues (unlike the previous release by EIDOS in 1998)

If you're looking to get the most out of your Final Fantasy experience, a helpful reddit user has pointed gamers to this excellent guide to Final Fantasy VII modding, which while designed for the 2012 version of the game, should work fine with the new Steam version.

Is Final Fantasy VII the best Final Fantasy? It's certainly the most recognizable one.

16:9 stretched? This just screams out "lazy port". Thank god for the modding community!

So it's still the crappy pc-port from the 90's. Guys, play the game with epsxe or another emulator able to upscale the psx-graphics. Unbelievable Square dares to sell this pos still...

Didn't know you could get this on PC.
