Microsoft will host a gamescom conference next month, according to unnamed sources.

 Citing the sources, CVG reports that some developers have already been made aware of the conference and that it will announce its plans publicly soon.

A Microsoft spokesperson said on the matter, “We’re excited to be back at Gamescom this year but we’re not announcing any further details on our plans at this time. Please stay tuned for more details!”

The briefing is said to last an hour, and will include Xbox One.

Meanwhile, Capcom has confirmed to VG247 that it will not be at gamescom 2013.

A full hour? I have a feeling they will reiterate their new policies, maybe go into more details about some changes for XBL Gold, maybe announce something special for early adopters (hopefully), and then show some gameplay of Quantum Break, Black Tusk's new game and announce a few more exclusives. Should be a good show.

I've watched Sony's for the last 2 years now.

Europe will be key for MS this gen. I think it's one of the key reasons they hired Phil Harrison. They need to make a really hot first impression.

I hope they announce a few more games and clarify everything from the xbox one. Maybe a release date and price too. 2 versions of the xbox one, a cheaper one and the original $500 with a game.

Gamescom 2013 is set to be held in Cologne, Germany between August 21 and 25.

Edit - I hope both Microsoft and Sony announce price cuts for 360 and PS3 at this show.
