I would be surprised if, logistically, XBox One and PS4 could outsell the Wii U at launch. Even if we assume that every person in the world wants one, the Wii U should, conservatively, have about 5-6 million units sold by years end. If Sony or Microsoft has that many consoles in the pipeline, kudos for them for great manufacturing processes.

In terms of actual sales, I'm fairly confident the Wii U will outsell both competitors this holiday. The PS4 and XBox one will appeal to hardcore/dudebros gamers. However, it's really not going to appeal to anyone outside that sector. The Wii U *can* appeal to those outside the traditional gaming demographics, but it's a question of whether the marketing will be there. The Wii U certainly has more system sellers than the others, so we'll see if Nintendo can capitalize. If they can, the Wii U can outsell them until at least the middle of next year.

It's rather funny that whomever wrote this failed to notice the large hole in their logic despite mentioning it only moments before.

The issue here is the allotment of consoles that are purchasable on launch day. Despite whatever demand there is, there certainly won't be 3.5 million consoles (roughly the Wii U's sales so far) ready to ship on launch day. There likely won'teven  be that many around to purchase for the first month or so.

Despite how poorly the Wii U is selling now, let's not forget that it was completely sold out for roughly the first month or so of its lifetime. If there was an unlimited supply of PS4s and X-Box Ones...perhaps that could be a serious competition. However, we live in a world with finite supply, and history has shown us that console developers tend to play it safe when alloting companies numbers of consoles to sell.

In short, the PS4 and X-Box One won't outsell the Wii U on pre-order alone because they can't. There simply isn't enough of them to do so.

It will take all generation and still wont pull if off like PS3 vs. Wii
