Well in sony's ps4 motto. Greatness Awaits!

If we are always awaiting greatness from Sony, then we will keep on waiting and never get it! :O

lol, that's because sonys greatness can never be reached by us mere mortals. So every time we chase the greatness, it outruns us because it's too great!

Well i wasnt really directing it to the op, it was for the people who assume Ps4 wil win and there are a lot of them on this site. Should have been more clear my bad.

So you're basically calling out people from other threads here, although none have shown up here or expressed such things?

What is it with you people, who have to bring up out of topic stuff like that to attack or talk down people on things that haven't even happened in the threads you comment on?  Happydolphin did it just yesterday, among some others, and see where it led too. It's just wrong. It screams desperation, is totally uncalled for and it derails the threads unnecessarily.

Who reads thread titles anymore?

=P

I thought it was usually the other way around. People reading the title, but not the OP.

Also how the hell did they get it to be $100 cheaper when even packing in a camera would only make it $450 (they would swallow $10 if they were bundling it)?

They subsidize the hardware through paid online multiplayer and on the other side of the fence Microsoft has problems with the yields for their console which pushes up the price. Plus Kinect 2.0 that comes with the console and isn't as cheap to produce as Sony's camera.

But MS subsidizes the hardware in the same way...

Hence why I said what I said.

1) Sony charges for online multiplayer which they haven't done before. Benefits their price.
2) Microsoft has problems with yields. Raises their price.
3) Microsoft bundles Kinect with every Xbox One. Raises their price substantially more than Sony's camera would, if Sony decided to bundle it with the PS4.

I know.. It's still strange though that even though their console's specs are lower than the PS4's and uses cheaper parts, Kinect still makes the price higher by such a margin.

At 399, Sony is hitting hard because to most people that price is the sweet spot. It will be interesting to see how big a hit it will be on the XBO. I understand there are hardcore MS fans that will buy it no matter what. But I think Sony will start stronger than them in just about every market they launch during their first year at least.

On the other Hand they could achieve bankrupcy. I mean they are taking the fight to MS. And Microsoft is 17x bigger then Sony at the time and they have sooooo much money and can buy as much talent as they want. Plus the Vita is dying a horrible death. So Sony has to do something special otherwise they wont make it out of this alive.

Probably also has to do with Microsoft's overconfidence and their (likely) expectations that Sony would go with $500 as well, so they saw no problem with their price. But Microsoft has already changed their DRM plans, so it's possible that they will be more aggressive with their pricing as well. Nobody who is interested in the Xbox One is going to be mad, if Microsoft suddenly announces that the system is going to retail for $400 when it launches.

It will be an interesting 6 months, that's for sure. MS has at least proven that they are listening. But I think that anyone would have listened after such a massive/generalized outcry.

Wouldn't that basically be saying "hey we could have charged $100 less from the start, but we thought we could rip you off.  Now buy this thing we've defended on policy and price before reversing both."  I think an early price cut would be much better for PR but to avoid having to give out games ala 3DS they would have to wait 6 months at least or risk some more bad PR which they really can't afford right now.

Just because MS has unlimited resources pretty much doesn't mean anything for Xbox.  Sure they could sell the console at a $300 loss and dominate but they want that division to make money.  No matter how much money MS has they want more so they aren't going to say "let's lose a bunch on Xbox to beat our rival!" especially when it seems Xbox is not a main pillar of MS (as Kaz has made PS be for Sony).  Face it they care more about penetrating the phone and tablet market as well as maintaining their OS dominance than Xbox.  Sony has a gamer as CEO now so they are more likely to focus on gaming as a corporation and it's one of Kaz's 3 pillars.  Also MS's unlimited mounds of cash haven't helped them penetrate tablets or smartphones very well so the thought that you can just buy your way to the top is ridiculous.  Look no further than the subject of this thread, that the less powerful consoles always win, to see how trying to use straight muscle works out usually.  Also Nintendo has won more than their share of gaming gens (I'm also a big N fan despite many people just calling me a Sony fanboy and yes I know you didn't say that) and they haven't had the most resources since the SNES generation when they had Atari and SEGA as their rivals.
