And Microsoft is 17x bigger then Sony at the time and they have sooooo much money and can buy as much talent as they want. Plus the Vita is dying a horrible death. So Sony has to do something special otherwise they wont make it out of this alive. |
Just because MS has unlimited resources pretty much doesn't mean anything for Xbox. Sure they could sell the console at a $300 loss and dominate but they want that division to make money. No matter how much money MS has they want more so they aren't going to say "let's lose a bunch on Xbox to beat our rival!" especially when it seems Xbox is not a main pillar of MS (as Kaz has made PS be for Sony). Face it they care more about penetrating the phone and tablet market as well as maintaining their OS dominance than Xbox. Sony has a gamer as CEO now so they are more likely to focus on gaming as a corporation and it's one of Kaz's 3 pillars. Also MS's unlimited mounds of cash haven't helped them penetrate tablets or smartphones very well so the thought that you can just buy your way to the top is ridiculous. Look no further than the subject of this thread, that the less powerful consoles always win, to see how trying to use straight muscle works out usually. Also Nintendo has won more than their share of gaming gens (I'm also a big N fan despite many people just calling me a Sony fanboy and yes I know you didn't say that) and they haven't had the most resources since the SNES generation when they had Atari and SEGA as their rivals.
