Nah, you're pushing it way too far. They gave competence, that's how you can actually moan about PS+. Mind you, MS pushed online play; PSNetwork was almost unbearable at the beginning.

I think this is why people aren't complaining, we all pretty much saw it coming. Everyone complained about XBL because it was obvious that if people keep paying for what Sony is doing for free, Sony will start charging. If enough people compained, then enough people stop paying, maybe MS would make it free. But it was too late and now everyone pays.

Thankfully it worked for the DRM, so that was nipped in the bud. This was one time people could look beyond being blind fans, it's a shame it didn't happen for Live.

It was the worst part of Sony's e3. I'm honestly ashamed, because they did NOT need to mandate this for multiplayer. PS+ is an amazing service and would have built up on its own.
What they could have done is charge 9.99$ a year for multiplayer, and 60$ for ps+, but ps+ would include multiplayer.
It was really a boneheaded move, imo. Really poorly conceived given the circumstances.
That being said, gamers have proven to Sony that they don't care about paying for multiplayer. Had xbox lost this gen badly, or had more users stopped using live, we wouldn't be in this mess, imho.

The main reason why Sony didn't get as much flak for charging for online was because MS proved how far a company can go to ruin it for their consumers. I think Sony would have lost this E3 easily and deservedly if MS had taken its consumers seriously instead of thinking that people will buy whatever they release.

As it stands, there isn't anything amongst the consoles that will be like the xone/ps4 and provide free online, so there is no option. You have to get either one of them if you want a console and a subscription is a must now.

Which is incredibly stupid.

This thread should stay open. For years and years we heard people pissing and moaning about Live being a pay service. No harm in discussing Sony following suit.

Yep you is totally right. We have bashed and bashed MS for this and while I dont personally like this in the ps4, it really doesnt affect me because I already have ps+ AND I dont tend to play MP games much. Same for a lot of the other sony guys here, I suspect. While the idea of it isnt really cool, it generally wont affect most (here) as they will already have ps+.
